Why are you bumping? The hold button is not a bitch. Don't let the gears change and stay in first with the hold button.
LoL.

Once again, all is right in the world. The natural balance has been restored.

Yeah, there's no way you can launch an auto from idle.

I can't believe though that the auto falls off from the 5-speed by roughly .7 sec. in the 1/4. It makes sense though when you think about the gearing and the fact that it is an auto but I guess the fact that it doesn't lose boost during shifting helps a lil

hehe, sorry for my ignorance, but what the heck is the "hold button?"

also, i hear from the supra guys about break boosting, where you hold your breaks and rev the car to build boost while launching at full boost! Well, i dunno about the full boost part, but it was something like that. Can this be done with the rx7's too?

Practice makes perfect on launching an auto FD.
I really can't see the Honda getting a 3 car lead ever, as once the FD lights up it is still one fast *****.

Brake-boosting, power braking....what ever one wants to call it....can aid a nice launch. Done correctly. Done wrong and it hurts you. I can guarantee that using the 'hold' and keeping it in low and just mashing the throttle is the best way for most people, yeah there is a MOMENTARY hesitation and then all hell breaks loose....
You have only a few tenths of a second before you hit the rev limiter and then you need to hit the 'hold' button again and 2nd gear will hit so hard that the tires will break loose for a second, rev limit it there then you just shove the gear shifter up one whilst keeping the gas mashed and it will shift to 3rd, rev limit it again then go to 'D' and it will hit 4th. Ideally you need to anticipate the limiter and shift just a tick early for best performance, much like the manual.

I won't say the civic i drag with is an easy meat, it has mod to the max, well almost. a 2 liter block, can u imagine. It can even beat a original type R without mod. Even the EVO that have drag with that civic will agree with me.

A tuned and heavy modified all motor civic can put down 230 whp and combined with a 2100 lb (hatch) and Y1? tranny w/lsd (their shortest geared tranny) they can go low thirteens on streets. Also they are now 2.2L conversions availabe. If the civic is boosted and heavily modded (sleeves, rods, pistons, standalone ecu) , then 400+ whp is possible.

Though hondas are cheap and common, they are very easy to mod and make somewhat fast. However traction probs will prevent them from going 11's. 1st and 2nd are almost useless for me. Launching well has an incredibly small window of error. I need traction!!! Many people underestimate hondas, but we all know anything can be made to go fast.
