Chromoly Axle Installation How-To

We decided to install a set of Driveshaft Shop 300M Chromoly Axles on our 20B FD as a precautionary measure. The halfshafts that were on the car were original and have seen a fair share of abuse. It also gave us the opportunity to put together a set of installation instructions. This procedure assumes that you know how to remove the halfshafts from the vehicle.

The new axles are rated up to 800hp. These are some very nice pieces. The kit comes complete with new CV boots, clamps and grease. http://banzai-racing.com/store/93+_r...haft_axle.html

For our car we decided to go ahead and purchase a set of remanufactured Halfshafts from our local Napa, they list at less than $60ea with a $44 core. This ensured that we were putting new CVs on and that all the spines were in spec. In the how-to below you will see that the grease in blue, if you are installing the axles in your original shafts this will be brown.

The full How-to can also be viewed on our website http://www.banzai-racing.com/half-sh...ild_how-to.htm

Tools Required:

Flat Head Screwdrivers
Vice Grips
Snap Ring Pliers
1 1/8" Socket
Rubber Mallet
Vice
Hydraulic Press (if available)

Reman Halfshafts

The axles are the same length as stock, it is just the angle of the picture.

thanks for the valuable thread. as more FD's run AI and routinely make 500 rw axles become a key component. don't forget solid diff bushings, lower rear link bushings, a Banzai diff brace and a Garfinkle engine torque brace and you are set.
