China crap filter?

So I found a few threads talking about these China filters from a long time ago. Is this still the most common filter used? It is a aftermarket replacement of the oem. Is the oem China made?
I cringe putting a made in china piece on my fd.

China makes a LOT of stuff at this point, there's good stuff and there's bad stuff. I don't think there's any hard evidence on those filters, though. The only real way to know is to buy a sacrificial one and cut it open and look at the filtering media.

Sorry for this new thread. If there is a mod it would be wonderful if you want to delete this.
I will call Ray on Monday and order from Mazda. I just ran my brand new motor 1200 miles without a filter.... I just found that out and it upsets me. Last thing I need to do it put a sub par filter on. No offense China, but your quality control scares me.

Can you elaborate on this? I'm not really sure what you mean. Like counterfeit NGK being sold on Amazon?

I am not trying to hijack. My appologies about that.
My bad..
Yes, counterfeit.. I have not bought any from Amazon to confirm that includes spark plugs used on our fds. I am assuming its a general issue.

That would upset me too, but if it's any consolation, if any crud in the unfiltered fuel managed to find its way to your engine in those 1200 miles, it's the fuel injectors that would be taking the brunt of the abuse. FIs typically have a tiny filtering screen element in them as a last line of self protection - see diagram below. This is just a generic top feed FI diagram pulled off the net.

Probably wouldn't hurt anything (other than your wallet) to pull the injectors and send them out for cleaning & flow test servicing just to be sure your injectors weren't damaged.

pretty sure the OEM is a Nippon Denso, Mazda usa actually will get you a genuine one.

China didn't really make auto parts in 1991, so its not really possible that a Chinese part is OE, and then Mazda is a Japanese company, they still don't really use Chinese parts.

Think Taiwan and Mexico (for US) are the major non-Japanese OEM suppliers to Japanese auto makers. If you get it through Mazda, it'll be OEM regardless of country of origin.

That's settled. I will call Ray for sure.
Would you guys pull the injectors after 1200 miles or so and clean them?
They were cleaned before installation of new engine. 100% sure for secondaries as I shipped them to RC myself. Not sure on primaries. The sock on pump has maybe 2500-3000 miles on it. Supra TT pump. Once again it is around 1200 miles driven since no fuel filter. Clean gas tank.
I don't want to over react, but I also don't want to put a new motor in danger.

Planned on getting it tuned next month

this is not correct. Mazda USA buys a few parts aftermarket, the part number will end in a 9a or 9u

the FC fuel filter is an example, in the USA we get an N327-13-480-9U, and its a made in China filter with no bracket, in the rest of the world you get N327-13-480 which is a Denso, i think with the bracket.

the FD filter is genuine, N3A1-13-480

I think that may be overkill. 1200 miles isn't going to kick up a lot of dirt.

Thanks, I was kind of thinking the same. I don't want to sound racist in this day and age talking crap about China , but I would prefer something a little more named brand. I may be over reacting on that too, but I don't care.

these days the brand name means you get different art on the box.

for example brake rotors, 90% of them come out of the same factory, which is in China. you pick the applications, quality level, box type, they send you a price, you send them your box art and then they will show up 6-8 weeks later.

that being said the filters and brake rotors seem to do fine, i end up using the Mazda USA supplied Chinese fuel filter for the FC, the price is good and they actually have them.

I'd only recommend the Mazda oem fuel filter unless you are replacing the lines under the car with an lines. I've seen issues getting the right fuel pressure with the cheap aftermarket filters.

Genuine Mazda. I bought this a few years ago, so the OEM supplier and packaging may have changed.

The only writing on the filter itself is IN and OUT on the respective ends. The box says it was made in Japan. A little Internet searching shows aftermarket fuel filters priced for less than half the price of the OEM filter. Usually, you get what you pay for.

If Mazda puts their name on it and it's made in China I wouldn't care so much. I know the quality control is most likely there. A manufacturer like Mazda or any big name car will probably not take chances with filters.
Without the name, I am not sure what I am getting.
