FD oil filter revisit post: OEM or ?
I am doing my first oil change for my 94 FD...oil change was done 2,500 miles ago by my brother before car was purchased.
Right now car have Mazda OEM which taller than the Fram PH TG6607 that I bought this morning.
Which one to use? OEM or ?
I am also in Mustang performance and heard bad things about Fram filter...however I have been using Fram filter on my wife Acura for last 5 yrs w/o any problem.
Thanks.

try a 3593 fram filter. that is what older 13b's take and it is the same size as the OEM filter.
i dont know if they are the same thread pattern, butif it doesnt go easily dont do it.

Not to jump on you man, but there haven't been any major changes in oil filter production quality or technology in a while. No reason to "revisit" the subject. OEM filters still are the best filters to use on these cars because of the one-way valves they have. Price is comparable to other high quality filters w/ one-way valves. OEM: Stick w/ it.

Purolator Pure One PL14610,
Size: similar specs to our stock one, but larger volume.
Manufacturer: Purolator makes many OEM filters, possibly the Mazda also. Subaru OEM filters say Purolator on them, and I think I've seen that Mazda filters are (or were) made by Purolator, on Steve Ciriani's website.

this was a great relief for me since i was using k&n filters which dont come cheap esp. when your running it with redline oil.

I've tried the PureOne filter, and being taller than the OEM filter, it interfered with the fast idle cam on my engine...
I've always been happy with the OEM filter.
