Check out these tail lights for the FD3S!!!!!

Came across these:

http://www.finalkonnexion.co.jp/X8_twintail.htm

http://www.finalkonnexion.co.jp/FD3S_LEDtwintail.jpg

and these

http://www.finalkonnexion.co.jp/combinationlamp.htm

Any comments?

I think they are trying to copy the RX8's design. I still like the 99 spec though.

Heehee! I never said they were nice. Just sharing the link for the bro's in the forum. I ain't selling them so any flames can be directed at the designer of the tail light. Like I said I am sticking to my 99 specs!

i kinda liked the X8 twin tail ones with the black housing... but definitely not as much as the 96+ spec ones

why is it that everything is referred to as 'spec? that style of light was on all RX-7s from 1996 on, wasn't it?

The rest suck, but if this one didn't have the reflective outer section, it wouldn't look too bad. Three would have been better, but I think you could save this one by opening it up and blacking out the reflective area.

That's correct. And I'd like to know why they're referred to as "spec" too. I got into a fight in the West forum because somebody referred to the lights "rzograbian" was doing as "converted to '99 spec". I said they were actually "96+ lights", and weren't a "conversion" because masking off and spray painting circles doesn't make them anything else (conversion to what?), and I was called a "troll" and whatnot.

I like that one. Too bad they dont make it.

I would like to see one just like that except with a smaller third circle light for the blinker.

I think being insulted in the West forum should be considered a compliment....

BTW, those lights are hideous and cheapen the FD even more than it already has been.

People refer to them as '99-spec because A) some people just don't know any better, B) '99 is newer than '96, and therefore "better" in some people's eyes, C) "spec" probably sounds cool to some people, sort of like calling everything "JDM" these days, and D) adding some '99-spec parts probably makes them feel they have free license to tell people that their car is '99-spec too.

You are right that the round Efini tail lights were available from '96-on. I had one of the first legitimate pairs in the States back in mid-'97 when the price was still too rich for most people's blood, and there weren't people baking tail lights apart in their ovens to spray paint them.

Well at least it shows people still bother to make new products for our cars even though it is already over a decade old. Be it nie or rice, its comforting to know the FD still is evergreen despite being 10 years "young"

Is that possible? Remember, we're talking about a 10+ year old car that can, in most cases, be picked up for less than the price of a new Honda Civic EX. This isn't a Ferrari we're talking about.

However, the "chromey" lights look like **** and anyone who buys them should have misshapen offspring with extra digits or some sort of justifiable curse along those lines...

I guess maybe its because people started marketing the tail light replacements as "99 spec" even though they were first launched back in 1996. Either way be it 1996 or 1999 they are basically the same. Guess folks just got used to calling them ''99 spec". I just tell my friends I got the round lights!

In all honesty, I can't see paying $600 and upwards for these lights, when there's forum members who can 'modify' them to look exactly the same for $75 or whatever. 99.9% of the people cannot tell the difference between the real ones or the ones some of the members work ok. There's nothing better about the original, no 'gain' over the modified ones, so aside from either having too much money or wanting bragging rights over something petty, what's the point?

However, I do agree the lights linked by the original poster are nothing short of hidious.

Either flash the outer light or both, just like the Corvette.

I think it might be possible to determine if the JDM 99 spec tail lights are different. I was talking to one of the other forum members about his car, and he's noticed that the stock lights on almost all the FDs he's seen have a light bluish grayish fade at the top of the tail light where seam line shows up for the plastic. Anyhow, I compared his lights to mine (we both have 93 FD's) and his doesn't have the grayish bluish fade on the top and mine was really visible, I guess he has the 'true' jdm lights.

But other wise, those lights would look great in a gay **** movie. Stick with the stock or the smoked circle lights man.
