Cheaper and better ECU than PFC

Ok I have a apexi power intake, downpipe, and a apexi n1 exhaust. My boost levels spike anywhere from 12-15 psi sometimes...i have backed off since i saw it that high...well to my question. Is there a cheaper and just as good or better ecu to get than the apexi power fc?

get an m2 or pettite ecu. it's better in that you don't have to tune it.

With a pettit or the M2 stageII you cannot use a mid pipe just incase you decide to use one later.
You can pick up these PFS units for cheap now.
I am selling mine currently and it IS tunned for 15 psi hint hint.. winkwink

You CAN run midpipe if you can limit your boost - either via porting the wastegate or adding some restrictor plate in the exhaust (like a gasket, just with a smaller then 3" diameter hole - like 2"1/5)

Is that true? If you get a boost controller you can run the pettit ECU with a midpipe, right?

You can run midpipes and race ported engines with the Pettit ECU (search on RTS3GEN).

Yeah the pettit ECU is tuned for a midpipe and 14.7 psi.

Don't be confused by the responses you see above here. Both the Pettit and M2 come preprogrammed to your specific mods. Yes, they will run with various mods. No, you can't just get one for say an intake, dp and exhaust and then expect it to run as well after you change the IC and midpipe.

Actually, I don't believe that's true. The M2 has stages (which is not necessarily programmed to your specific car) and I believe Pettit has something similar (maybe only 2 different maps Limited and Unlimited). I've been meaning to call Pettit and ask them the scoop on that.

No, because boost controller can only limit the boost so much. You may get a boost creep, which can only be eliminated via a restrictor in an exhaust (typically a stianless steel plate) or a ported wastegate.

Why would anybody run a mid pipe and a restrictor plate? If you cannot afford the supporting mods to run a mid pipe then dont run a mid pipe. If you are just going to restrict it anyway then you may as well have put in a high flow cat instead and at least your car wont stink.

Oh I want to keep my FD and love it more than anything its just im 18 and dont have a 8 hour job yet and my dad is helping me right now with my parts...i dont have a prob working on the car or maintaining it just the $ ...

I got my car without the main cat. One of previous owners obviosuly removed it. With the mods I did to my car I'm running a restrictor plate.

Eventually I will port the wastegate, but this wont happen on these 85k miles old turbos

I love my G-Force ECU, I get 14.7 PSI. IMO, it's the best of both world because it give a noticeable increase in power and you don't have to mess around with tuning it and accidentally blowing your engine in the process. But that's just me.

i say just get a high flow cat and you would be good with the pettit or peter or m2...midpipe is goood if your are running stand alone ecu not piggybacks...

I would use a midpipe with restricter place over the stock midpipe because of the 40lb weight loss (maybe a little exaggerated

There's the Buddy Club (piggy back) for $300 but it only controls fuel (PFC does much more) and you have to buy the software seperate (not that datalogic is included either). It would be sweet if I could get my hands on a copy of the software, then $300 would be nothing and I could spend the othe $300 on tuning.

If u still have the stock ECU and your stock main cat on, the most your car will spike to is 12lbs, i thought, anyways...

CHEAPER WILL BE MORE EXPENSIVE LATER! I think a lot of peeps can atest to this.

Save yourself the trouble and keep your car stock until you get enough money to make sure you have the right parts.

At this point you need the PFC, FMIC, and Fuel pump and you'll be driving around a low 12 second car.

Kamaal - last i saw you, you were afraid of pushing your car because you didn't want to blow your motor, let alone not knowing how the peter farell purple stuff works... remember or is this a different kamaal...

anywho... don't tell someone something works when you don't even know if it's working right for you! i don't mean to bash on you but that's not cool.

oh, yeah, did you finally put a tie down on your battery and made sure that your positive and negative cables were securely fastened? and does your car still have two different types of rims on them? just a reminder, that is pretty ghetto...

Well thank you for the replys guys. the power fc and commander is on its way and after that ill probably go with the greddy 2-row front mount intercooler..and then a fuel pump.. thanks alot peace out!
