Cheap or second hand Intercooler ??

Hello.

Im not an owner of a RX7 myself but a friend of mine is and he is looking for an upgrade intercooler for his car.
He has been looking at different intercoolers for example the Apexi one, but he thinks its to expensive so my question is, where can I find a cheaper upgrade Intercooler ? Is there anyone on the forum that is selling his ?

Best regards
Gagge

your best bet is to check the forsale section.

If he has an FD then tell him we said dont be a cheap *** ... for around 900 he can get the IC and piping for his stock turbo setup ( assuming he is stock ). IF his car IS stock, and running stock boost. i wouldnt bother with an IC and i would dump the money into reliability mods.. ( do a search ).

The short and sweet answer is.. yes he can go find an intercooler for cheap ( off ebay or the forsale section ). but buying a kit may end up being cheaper and provide LESS of a headache when trying to mount it.

Hey if you got the custom piping would an SRT-4's Intercooler be good for the 7? I may get one for free or like 100$ after this guy upgrades his on his car, and the custom piping is only like another 100$. From what I understand ANYTHING is better than the stock intercooler.

If its a fmic the piping is gonna be a bit more then 100 dollars unless you know how to bend pipes yourself and what not. Like was stated earlier, dont be a cheap ***. You got to pay to play. 900 dollars for a greddy 2 row is a pretty damn good price if you ask me. Or you could get a used one for like 500 or 600 dollars. I managed to get a hold of a Rx7 fashion apexi core intercooler with polished pipes used for 500 dollars shipped. I think i got a good deal on it considering it sells for 1800 dollars.

Its not about being cheap, I already got a price quote for the piping so its set in stone, then I went to the SRT-4 site to see if their efficient and they looked at me like "WTF is efficient" maybe 3 people knew what they were talking about. So I didnt bother and figured hell anything is better than the stock shoe box.

My shop has an srt4, the intercooler is quite nice... I wouldent say its as good as a bar and plate designed intercooler, but MUCH better than the factory fd intercooler.

Even the tiny Mazdaspeed Miata one is better than ours just because its f*cking front mount. With the heat of the engine bay WTF was Mazda thinking.

you also got to remember that mazdas technology was over 10 years older then ours now. This means that stuff made now is of much better quality and efficiency then back then. Also mazda wanted to save as much weight as they could. If mazda didnt cut all these corners and put all this crappy plastic on our cars then they would weight more like 3000+ pounds and not 2800. So i would just be thankful for all the crappy parts that they put on it. This way we have all the reason in the world to upgrade everything
