Chattering sound after new diff

I blew up my differential and replaced it with a used stock diff. I also installed a KGparts brace. Now when I pass over bumps there is a chattering sound coming from the back end somewhere. It sounds like it’s from the driver side but seems to happen when both rear tires encounter a bump and not just one or the other.

A similar sound can be heard when I start first gear and get sloppy with the clutch. Almost seems like clutch chatter but it’s coming from the same location and is the same noise.

I’ve taken the wheels off the back end twice now and checked all bolts. I can’t seem to find the issue any ideas? I check the diff mounts too and they are solid. The PPF was also torqued down.

Any ideas?

The diff you put in could have issues.

Well to state another obvious possibility, remove the brace and see if there is a change in the noise.

I finally had the time to remove the brace and the chattering went away. My exhaust was hitting it just right. I assumed it wasn't since the sound was more of a clatter and not a hollow clanging that I would expect from exhaust piping. It must have been hitting it just right.

I'm going to shave down the side of the brace a little bit and retighten the exhaust with it jacked up a little bit. However it also seems the driver side axle seal is leaking. It was a brand new seal when I redid the diff. Clogged vent?

Could be, did you insert the half shafts with the circlip joint facing up?

Honestly I didn't pay attention to it. I didn't realize there was an orientation to it. So the opening is supposed to be in the down position? Doesn't the whole thing spin anyways?
