HELP!! somethings chattering

Wile idling my car makes a wierd chattering noise. Sounds likes its coming from the clutch/lower tranny area. When I push the clutch in it stops making the noise. I think it might be the throwout bearing but im not sure. I dont want to buy a clutch kit and the problem end up being the in the tranny. Is there any way to make sure its the throw out bearing before I spend 400 dollars on a clutch kit I dont need.
anyone else had this problem?

I have noticed a little difference in sound between the clutch in and out with my car. It doesnt chatter or make a noise that sounds bad. I would like to know as well for future reference.
mines chattered....
or vibrated or whatever u wanna call it.....
LUCKILY it wasnt the PPF....it was actually the lil shield by the tranny...one of the nut/bolt was LOOSE....so it made noises...i tightened it up...all quiet again...

It's probably not the throwout bearing.. it's only under load when you disengage the clutch (push on the clutch pedal). Things that make noise like you're describing are the main shaft bearings in the trans, and the pilot bearing.
The main shaft bearings usually don't chatter, though.. they have a whine to them. It's probably the pilot bearing.. as soon as you push in the clutch, it lets the input shaft on the tranny stop turning, and thus stop making noise. It should be less than $20, or come with a clutch kit.
Is it kind of hard to put in first gear from a stop sometimes? If so, it definitely sounds like the pilot bearing.
Sounds like it's time for a clutch. Good luck.

none of those really describe my problem..
I changed my tranny fluid over to redline today, seems to have fixed the problem. at least for now.. Thats a bad thing though, makes me think its a main shaft bearing, I guess its time for that 6 speed ive always wanted..
One thing I did notice wile I was under the car was two of the bolts holding the clutch slave cylinder on were very loose. I torqued them back on, its wierd though, my car didnt seem to be leaking any hydro. fluid from the slave..
this may be a stupid question but I have never checked the level of my clutch fluid, how do I do so.. (hydrolic fluid)
