Charge Relief Valve

I was just look'n and had a few questions about it.

Which color is on the CRV band

Why do ppl put a filter on it? Is this to help silence it? It shouldn't suck air in.

How loud is it when it's is vented.

I've been thinking of just venting both the BOV and CRV

before 4500rpm wouldn't it just blow hot air from the compressor side of the 2nd turbo back into the intake?

Black. If you look, it actually has "CRV" written on it. The BOV is red and has "ABV" written on it.

It shouldn't suck in air, however, it is on the filtered side of the airbox. It was never designed to vent to open air.

Not that loud. There isn't a lot of air it's venting compared to the BOV.

If it's working properly, yes.

kewl

did they put it on the filterside b/c the air had allready been filtered?

to prevent noise and make a cute little package?

would that hot air even make a noticable difference on intake temps?

Part of it I'm sure was for noise prevention. The BOV/CRV springs are noted for not being as strong as aftermarket ones, so it's good prevention to make sure nothing gets sucked in...

It's plumbing back into the airbox was designed to minimize noise, however. Vent it, there's no reason to send charged heated air BACK into the same set of turbos (via the intake side).

Both of mine (BOV + CRV) are vented (non-seq) but I might be teeing them together to just my BOV.

Edit: my mistake for not reading the entire thread as you guys already addressed most points.

i prolly will vent it and teeing it to the bov might be a good idea to clean the engine bay up a bit.

This all made sense but all these $300+ intakes use recirculating CRV so i was thinking i missed something.

That's only for the non-seq setup.

For testing purposes only, yes. They have different operating parameters:
