Charcoal Canister Removal

Anyone done this w/o any ill effects. I pulled mine off and don't plan on putting it back. Does the car REAK of gas afterwards. I figure it would smell some but just trying to find anothers experience. Cap any of the lines or leave them open?

It smells a little bit like fuel. I used my charcoal canister line as the fuel return line for my fuel system.

Why bother?

Really this isn't a mod, this is just hacking up the car...

Leave the lines open, you should never smell gasoline as the venting is minimal. There are check valves that open at some small pressure before venting or inbreathing occurs. Can also remove the crap under the intake mani, solenoid/tank/lines.

There is something I want to use the mounting point & space for....

Thanks for the info guys. I guess if the smell starts to get on my nerves I will relocate it somewhere else. But yeah everything in the engine bay related to it will be gone.

so how can it be safe to just cap off the nipple on the UIM? Is it a better idea to leave this open to atmosphere? Even without the solenoid, wouldn't this create a vacuum leak??

you can cap the vac port, i misunderstood it's purpose. Cap the nipple on the UIM but leave the hardline of the charcoal canister opent o atmosphere, you may get a smell but I haven't noticed over the smell of my premix spewing out of an uncatalized exhaust

did you take out the canister? when i look up there you see the one line that runs from the front of the car up there but it looks like theres another line that possibly connects at the top of the canister. is this the case? i just wanna know how it is so i can also put a one way valve to hopefully keep the slightest moisture and air out...

my canister is still there just because I haven't had the rear end lifted in a while to facilitate removing it

Let me try to get this right... basically, i can remove the line from the UIM, cap off the nipple, eliminate the solenoid (purge control), eliminate the catch tank, and the lines to the carcoal cannister?

like stated its best to keep the line there for the future so you can use it for another feed line... not really sure how easy its going to be to get the canister out. when i had it up on my lift it looked like its gonna be hell to manuver out, if its even possible to get it out!

hmm... then would it be better if i eliminate everything under the hood plus the catch tank, but leave the line from catch tank to cannister alone, dangling there?

cap of the IM remove the catch tank and lines... the line im saying to leave is the hard line. remove pretty much everything but that line for in the future if you need to run massive fuel you can have two pressure lines!!! i think that would be sweet...
