There's not a auto hobby shop or something on your base?

Any place will/can do it, however they may have junk oil filters. I would recommend buying some OEM filters and then taking the car somewhere to have it done. Just hand them the OEM filter and then you'll be fine.

Years ago when I first got my car (and didn't have any tools or anyplace to do any work), I had Midas do my oil changes. I just brought them an OEM filter and that was it.

No! Please don't subject your FD to that kind of punishment...don't take it to a shop for an oil change. You don't have the right tools to change oil? I find that hard to believe. If you don't have them, then you should buy some. It's not that expensive and will be of benefit to you in the future. Oil changes are probably one of the easiest things to do on an FD.

First off, next time, you can use the search function up top to find out how to change oil, since this topic was covered plenty of times.

All you'll need is a wrench set (socket head), oil container, drain plug and gasket, oil, oil filter, oil filter wrench tool, and a jack/stands if you don't have one. Lift on stands, empty old oil into new container, remove and change oil filter, replace oil and voila, you're done. Not that complicated.

As you've indicated, changing oil on the FD isn't difficult, or particularly unique from any other car. If he has a trusted shop they should do just fine. And while I wouldn't trust a dealership with very many things on my car, they could probably handle an oil change. As for choices of filter:

As far as having a shop do it, a cheap filter will not be a big deal for one oil change. I would be sure to peek underneath and make sure 1) there is no leakage and 2) the oil level is correct afterward. I don't recommend using a cheap filter as a practice, but if the shop hassles you or wants to charge $10 more for a filter that's only worth another $2, then I'd use their regular filter.

I personally go for Bosch Premium filters - built like the Mobil1s for a reasonable price.

Do it yourself. Most shops use cheap oil. You'll save money and know it was done right.

I'd be more concerned that the dealer or shop knows how to put your car on the lift properly without damaging the floor or body. Improper lifting can really mess things up.

Wow, are you guys that paranoid? Bring it to a repair shop that does more than just oil changes. The guys there arent retard highschool kids. Hell, you can even bring them the oil and filter probably and they wont charge you extra. If they do laugh at them and go to another shop. I used to work for a repair shop as a mechanic. Even the other mechanics that thought my car was a 4cylinder could do an oil change on it no problem. They're not that dumb. Sheesh. You guys are so paranoid about other people touching your cars.

For the price of a quaker state oil change with a relabeled fram filter done at speed lube, I can do it myself with mobil 1 oil and a nippondenso filter. Please refrain from bringing up the dino vs. syn debate.
