CF hood painted or not?

Just got a hood and i'm deciding if i should paint it black along with the rest of the car or not. Are there any pics of a BB fd with a scoot hood painted and not painted? Need some pics to help decide. Please post pics.

IMHO paint it..you get carbon fiber for the less weight advantage, NOT the look..

I'd paint it. There was nothing wrong with clear coated carbon fiber untill every ricer decided to play it out. Now I just hate it.

I have the scoot hood on my FD , I was going to paint it , but leave the "fins"(left and right side) CF , and the front scoop painted.

Edit:

Here is sub-zeros FD

The stock aluminum hood doesn't weigh much. I think most buyers get the CF hoods for the vents and they are lighter than fiberglass. I personally never liked the look of fabric on the outside of a car so I painted mine.

which, on an FD is an advantage of... hmmm... maybe a pound or three?

buy a CF hood if you love the look - there's not much point over FRP otherwise (thus painting is a waste of cash). Also, you may run into issues with cracked paint if the CF is badly done.

i know that they weight less to nothing..i was saying in general cause i assumed he wanted to get a carbon fiber hood because he wanted the look of it, since the stock hood is light enough..

i was just saying to paint it cause thats what i would do..that or leave it stock..

found some

WARNING SOME BIG PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not "technically" Black but still has a decent reference point for it

and one more

Thats all i found on my comp, hope it gives people an idea, i personally thing that if the CF matches the color of the car (usally barker colors) then go for it, but i would not have like a baby blue and a carbon fibre hood, that would just be plain waste of money, but thats my take on :P

**Edit** i must agree with Jaymez if i got a Carbon Fibre hood i would leave the scoop and vents carbon fibre but paint the rest, just gives an accent to the whole color, i think it looks awesome, but thats me

mine, im actually redoing mine with a scoot hood and im getting it painted. The CF isnt bad, but after a while the clear coat turns a little yellow sepecially on the corners of the CF. I think it just looks cleaner painted.

Always paint the hood. If you want the hood to not match the rest of the car go to any junkyard and buy one that's a different color. It's cheaper that way.

paint it! It looks soo much better with a uniform color. When looking at pics of those black cars with carbon fibre, it just confirms my opinion. They look like they have faded hoods. Plus all one uniform color makes for a much more classy car.

On a black car I think it looks great unpainted. Any other color I would vote for painting it.

ive painted a faded one for my buddies eg.. i basically just sanded down the clear coat and then fine sanded the carbon, then primer and bamm!! three coats of sexy black cherry red.

but on topic, i would def. paint the hood and leave the vents carbon.
