Ok so I have a '94 it was running fine .... then i noticed at full throttle at higher rpm the car felt like it stalls (kinda like i let off the gas) then goes again...during that time I bought and installed a downpipe and exhaust and took it to a muffler shop and had them weld me on a new catylitic converter... several days later the car died on me while I was driving home...so since then i replaced the spark plugs, fuel pump and fuel filter and the car idles fine for awhile but when I rev her up a bit (or atleast attempt to rev) she bogs and wont rev above 3000 and shuts off... and if I let her idle for awhile she bogs out and shuts off ... I cant figure this out can somebody help please........ ( i am literally doing this right now )

 

First, check to see if your boost sensor is connected correct. (driver side firewall miniture rectangular black sensor that says "boost") Also, since you've replaced a fuel pump, tried and disconnect your battery again, and reset the battery (positive post and negative post connect together, and hold it for around 15-20 seconds). Reconnect the battery, try and crank the car.

When they replaced the downpipe, hows the o2 sensor looking? Make sure they didn't disconnect it and mess up around somewhere doing the downpipe.

Check you fuel pressure at key on and compare with spec. What are you getting?

I am thinking this can be a sensor/fuel issue.

thanx, i never reset the battery i will try that right now and the o2 sensor looks ok...ill let you know hopefully that fixes it...

 

The more the read it, the more I am thinking this sounds exactly like you are running out of fuel. Are you sure you connected the fuel pump correctly and all the fuel lines properly?

Perform a fuel pressure with key on, it will tell you alot.

With the given changes i would also check to see if the O2 is not the issue, the fuel cutting off can be several which leads to the car dieing out can mean only a few things.

this sounds like a case of "i only changed this minor thing and now the car won't run" deal.

but the problem started before I changed the parts though.......but i gotta get to work please let me know what else i can check....can it be the injectors???

 

by any chance are you running a PFC??? you can always check the injector values on the commander.

along with many other voltage values of the FD

 

no I dont quite have the money for the PFC yet haha I bought the car crashed and brought it back to life....Im just trying to get her running right before I do any serious mods other than just bolt on like intake and exhaust.... I know that my EGR valve was starting to go out ....could that be the issue???

 

But I do agree with both of you....it does sound like a fuel issue....
