I figure its fuel related, my car had extreme break up before I got it tuned, I was leaning towards ign also but after 1 pull on the dyno and some adjustments it was near gone after the 2nd no more stumble/break up crappy feeling stuff, but now that its been getting hotter out its starting a small break feeling in the higher revs again...

Yeah you have to take off all that crap to do it, thats why its better to just change them, its just a pain to test and check, its better to just change since the test could say they are good, like the silinoids but sometimes they are still bad since the test is kind of dumb...

ummm....I think you answered your own question. Silly question but when you unplugged the ignition solutions box, did you reconnect the stock stuff? Anyways, it does sound like the box took out a good chunk of the leading coil.

Ya I reconnected everything back to normal. Isn't the leading coil the most expensive out of all of the coils?

Try the MSD twin post instead of the stock.

Have you tried removing the Ignition Solutions? Does it still break up?

wtf?! you have another car (your friends) available to swap parts from. do it already and stop wondering. if he has a good set of coils, TRY THEM!! if he has a good ignightor, TRY IT!! Jesus christ already with the suguestions from everyone.
why would you go blindly buying parts you dont know will fix your problem?

Its just a pain in the *** for my buddy to take apart his car just so that I can try a part from his and vise versa. It would be nice if the ignition coils were at an easier place to get at. Thats just it, I don't want to go and start replacing/buying new parts if I don't have to because its going to cost me a fortune!!! I'm just trying to narrow the problem down to a couple of things. And yes I did disconnect the Ignition Solutions ignition. The wierd part is that my buddy is running the same ignition but he doesn't have the same problems.

Ya the problem went away in all of the gears except first where there is still some breakup in the high rpms (7000-8000rpm). I will monitor the situation and when I have a little more time I will try to swap aome parts out of my buddies car.

If you have break-up around 7000-8000 I would say closer to being fuel, or spark plugs...

I went out and bought new spark plugs hoping that it will help solve the problem. If not the last thing to replace is the leading coil.

I just replaced my spark plugs tonight and the old ones were toast. After installing the new ones I went for a rip and my high rpm breakup is gone. It revs smoothly no matter what boost I'm running. This ends another chapter in the fd saga. Thanks for the replies and help.

Damn , I wish I had seen this earlier. I would have suggested check grounds and replacing plugs first.
Anyhow, good luck.

Now plug the Ignitions Solutions box back in and let us know what happens. I'd like to know if the Plasma Blaster I got is defective.

Herblenny: I replaced the plug wires with magnicor 10mm and replaced the spark plugs. I didn't tough the coils or the grounds on the coils. That was my next step if this didn't work.
Trout2: I am afraid to plug the plasma booster back in because this problem started about the same time as I hooked it up. My buddy has the same plasma booster in his fd and its running just fine. What is your car doing when you plug in the plasma booster?

Keep me posted on your progress as I am going out of town today for a week and will be unable to try anything on my car as I don't drive it to work. Its just my toy. I have the 2004 Subaru wrx sti as my daily driver.

You're right, but profanity isn't necessary.

The question wasn't exactly out of the blue.

Ya the sti's are all sold out in my region. There could possibly be some in the rest of Canada, but I doubt it though. The cars were brought in for buyers that had money down on the car. There is none just sitting at the dealership waiting for a home.

thanks for the info.. I'm getting my Magna core 10mm this week.. And i'm going with 9's all the way around.. And I'm grounding the F@CK out of the engine.. Hope this will fix my hesitation.. otherwise, i think my PFC is tune too rich.. I used to have upgraded IC and Intake.. now I have just the intake.. and since my stock IC back in, its been acting weird..

Thanks again!

I just got home and I hooked up the ignition (ignition solutions) and it seems that the car revs smoother and quicker. I havn't had any breakup at all at the higher rpm area. Hopefully it stays that way. Who would of thought it was just the spark plugs. Anyway thanks for the replies guys.
