Car idles around 1200-1300 rpm
I've noticed that my car has been idling kinda high, around 1200-1300 rpm's. This happens even after the car gets warmed up. If i drive the car for about 20-30 mins sometimes it'll drop to around 750-800 but everyday when i drive to and from work which is only about 10 mins away it almost always idles higher. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks for any help!
What are the ambient temps over there?
I remember it will take a while for idle to drop on my car since my job is 10-15 minutes away (2 mile distance) but its city driving. In the winter it would be worse, it would never reach operating temp whenever i take the car to my job.
But i believe this is normal, it has something to do with the fast idle cam in the TB since theres coolant operated.

wells its nice to know its normal, the temp outside is around 70-80 in sunny cali so i would have thought it would be warm enough. My temp gauge still reaches a bit below the mid point so i thought it was warmed up.
Mine was dong that too and it wasnt normal. Right near the throttle body I had to get a piece of wire and hold down the throttle lever so that the car would idle back at its normal spot. I can take pics later too show you were the problem is and how to fix it.
It is not normal for your car to idle that high after 10 minutes. Check your clutch switch. It should have a little white botton that pops out when you depress the clutch pedal. You can see it if you get your head near the pedal.
Don't wire the mechanism closed. That's not the right way to fix ANYTHING!!!
