Unhappy Car got broken into

My fd got broken into. Luckily all they took was my cd player, though i consider it one of the things i need most in a car(I love music while driving). Also im lucky they didnt just break the window. I believe they got in the way someone would if they locked their keys in their car, because there are scratch marks all along the top of the window.
What should I do to help secure my car from this kind of attack again? Wish I had a garage, but I don't. Any alarm you guys suggest?

i feel for ya,i was one of the victims of the JPR Imports break in a few months back, and all they took was the radio-speakers.As far as alarm, honestly,i think anything would work as long as you have a loud speaker and a sensitive sensor....unless you live in a place where cars zoom by and it keeps going off.

Does yours not have the factory alarm? Even if I left the window open, someone could reach in and unlock the door, and when you open the door the horn blares and the lights flash. Was the factory alarm exclusive to the Touring model?

Really any alarm with a shock sensor, and a good loud siren would work. Most use a trigger wire from the interior light to know when the door gets opened. Shock sensors are annoying sometimes, but good to have if someone bumps or hits your car with something. Most you can adjust sensitivity.

Not really sure, mine was a Touring package but i didn't think the alarm was very loud, tried it once just to make sure it did in fact work.

To answer the original poster, i'd like into an aftermarket alarm..personally i've heard good things about the VIPER alarms, but never had one. Glad nothing else was stolen and not a lot of damage!

I have the Clifford Concept 550 and every possible sensor you can add to it (glass, tilt, dual impact, proximity, etc). As well as the factory alarm also being fully functional and activates with my Clifford remote =) Two alarms, 3 sirens =) Just make sure you adjusts your proximity accordingly. My alarm chirps when my dad (6 foot, 240lbs) walks by my car. Or if I talk next to it it will chirp. And the glass sensor is nice cuz if you start to tap or scratch the window the alarm will sound. Tilt will go off when they jack up the car to steal your wheels. As long as they don't take the CAR itself I'll be happy. I elarned my lesson owning an Acura. Clifford also has optional GPS tracking you can add to most of their alarms. The AG5 I believe is the top of the line clifford which has extra cool features like smart windows, remote start, starter kill, etc.

Compustar, although pretty spendy, is also a great company to check out for alarms. GPS systems included to track the car as well as paging systems are standard.

I would have to say clifford too, I got a responder series one from clifford and the thing is amazing, acts as a pager as long you are a 1/4 mile away from the car. The guy that installed mine said there is a new one coming out that has a mile range. The only thing is it is kind of pointless for the responder alarm because professional installers wont hook up the remote start, turbo timer features of the alarm for liability reasons. However, if you do not mind loosing your warranty from clifford you can install these features yourself. So anyways i would have to say Clifford.

There are a lot of good alarm systems out there. I like this one the best, although it would be hard to adapt to an FD the end result is superb!!

Python 700 with 2-way pager and duel siren works great. I can hear my car go off a few blocks away and that just the siren the page is good for 2miles.

i have the factory alarm. i sleep near the back of the house, so i guess i just slept right through it. ******* left my door right open when they left too. it was raining as well, so my interior is soaked. not to mention anyone could have walked up and taken all my other electronics.
a friend contacted me and as soon as i get the cash ill be getting a viper alarm. i wish i could set it to shoot flames at the bastards.
anyone know of a way to make the windows more secure? it looks like they just pulled it back

That sucks that your car got broken into...

I got mine jacked last spring (May 10th) they took roughly $1,600-$2,000 worth of stuff.. my complete system (Head unit, 4 speakers/4 tweeters, 800watt amp, 2 10"subs and box) my leather Jacket, my gerber, Citizen watch my mother bought me for HS graduation, they went to take the clutch and flywheel in my backseat, but realized they had just come OUT of the engine, so I got engine dust/**** all over my interior. Hell, they even took my Zippo out of the coin tray. I filed a police report as soon as I got to my car, but they still haven't done ****, and they side step whenever I mention reimbursements..

Worst part is this happend in the middle of the day, on a military base when I was a mile away at work. I didn't have an alarm. Though I don't know how much good it would have done, I wish I had one installed at the time. This happened in my Prelude, still don't have an alarm in it, but then again, there is nothing left of ANY value in the car. I certainly plan on putting an alarm in my 7 once I get back from The Gulf.

Thanks for making this post!! I know next to nothing about alarms, this has been very informative ^_^

This happened on a military base??!!! I bet if there is an elementary or a high school on the base that is were your leather jacket can be found!! I'd also recon the post exchange. Spent 25 years in the Army and National Guard. Know for a fact that Army bases are facing a problem with dependant childern, who live and go to school on post, acting like gang bangers.

Sorry it happened to you. Best of luck to you and your unit while you are in the Gulf.

HOOAH!!
