Car & Driver article on which gas to use, specifically "Top Tier" gas.

Though this was an interesting read.

I didn't realize that auto manufacturers have gathered together to discuss what qualifies as "quality" gas. Now that they've come to a decision...and set the standards for it, we can make sure our cars receive "top tier" gasoline.

Intresting bit, but to me just about all 93 oct gas is 93 oct. I've used gas from many companies and never can tell a differance. Even though chevron brags on having the best.

I think they totally blow it out of proportion although there is truth to it. They almost make it seem like you will misfire unless you use toptier gasoline, which is BS

so they mention the VP streetblaze 100 gas, but it looks very tedious when it comes to purchasing some, you have to e-mail the dealer then arrange shipping, and it doesn't even mention price. the nearest dealer to my area is around 300+ miles away to ship a drum of gasoline. it looks pretty costly. i think it'd be interesting to try it out on my daily driver. however, how would someone know whether or not you had "street legal gas" in your vehicle, i don't think they'd be able to tell even if you purchased their non street legal gas and put it in your car.

Yeah, especially considering the fact that the only fuel ever ran in my car is "Good ole Amoco" 93

They covered their asses without bashing other fuel providers.

Yep. It's all politics. Just like it's bad to spank your kids. Or even better, being fat is a disease and you should take this medication.

I've personally always thought that Shell and Exxon gas is horrible. If you notice, the GM rep did say that "you get what you pay for" and Amoco (BP) is probably one of the most expensive fuels on the market.

The "street legal" branding has really nothing to do with you using it; it's there so that VP retailers have more opportunities to sell it since it's legal for street use.

The key word is "yet". And remember that this is a voluntary standard that simply requires a certain level of various additives and detergents that the auto manufacturers feel is best for their cars. For all we know, BP could be just a hair below the standard, or they may not have submitted their fuel for testing yet.
