Any ways to go about disengaging the 'quick warmup" at start? I really want to use my Remote Start to warm the car up in the morning but of course it jumps up to 3k rpms and I dont want to run out there in the cold and tap the gas pedal just to get it to idle lower.

 

You can disable the accelerated warmup system by plugging the air hose that feeds it. Do a search here or on scuderiaciriani.com for the instructions (or get a PFC).

I though those remote start deals only worked on auto trans. cars... whos do you have?

I have the Compustar system.
Its great, built in: Turbo Timer, Remote Start.. and all the basics.. works on a stick cuz thats what I got.

 

Yeah, you could just pull the pin from the ecu.
You can use remote starts on manual cars as well, but you must keep the car in neutral.
Most places won't install them beacause they are a liability because you car could lunge forward if in gear.
But it can be done.

 

Ok, Ill pop open the manual tonight and find the pin, thanks. And to speed up the 'pin finding' process.. which clip is it on? *ie. top clip... bottom clip? Also, what exactly happens when I pull the pin? Air Pump just doesnt come on and help the Catalytic Convertor? Id like to know what the side effect is, ya know.

My remote start works perfectly, even though I still have the AWS system functioning..but it doesn't idle really that high...probably around 2000rpms..not 3000 (cuz I've actually checked it).

I also have the Compustar system.

Also, glass_man, the Compustar system has a canceling system...if you don't turn off your car a certain way..the system will not allow you to remote start.

You have to have the car in neutral, e-brake up, and all the doors shut. If you enter the car after it auto-alarms itself, it will not auto-start either.

My Clifford does not have that problem of auto-arming etc. Put in auto mode ..... use the nuetral switch on the tranny to do so. That way the alarm will only be in automatic mode if in nuetral.

 

Just remove the AWS on the intake manifold and get a block off plate for like 8$. Also while your there block off the throttle body coolant and the double throttle valves. One of the best clean up mods I did, now the UIM comes off and goes on a lot easier.

 

I do not have any answers for you... But when I start my car and it jumps to 3k. After 20 seconds or so, it settled down itself - without me having to tap the peddal.

You can just disconnect the AWS assisstor. The plug is under the intake manifold.

You might want to be careful having that on a stick it can pop into gear.

Your RPMs should drop down after about half a minute automatically unless there is something wrong with your AWS.

 

Just go outside and start her by hand.. you'll be spending more time together..

I'll tell you right now..that auto-start feature is the best thing since sliced bread in this nasty climate. I leave the car on defrost, with the heater set to 1, and I'll start her up on my trek out from wherever I'm at.

By the time I jump in the car, it's nice and toasty, the windows are de-fogged and I just put it in gear and drive.

It's awesome...as far as the price....do a search on google..they used to be like 900 bucks..but technology has caught up and the price has dropped down to about 400-500 bucks for the alarm itself.

It has TONS of features, too..it tells you if your trunk, door, hood is open, when your car is on, it'll tell you if your doors are locked, unlock your trunk, has an auto-warm up feature to keep the mechanicals from freezing in sub-zero weather, and a whole lotta other crap, even telling you when your lights are on.

It's the best damn alarm I've ever seen...

 

Are all you folks driving automatics? If not, you must be disabeling the clutch lockout? If you have disabled the lockout, how do you assure that the car is not in gear when you start it from a distance?

 

To answer your question..I'll quote myself.

 

Add one relay around the clutch switch. It is only enabled by the remote start unit else the clutch must be depressed.

86 = +12V
85 = remote start - pulse
30 = clutch inhibitor out
87 = starter signal ... ie 12V when cranking

 

with my Clifford autostart, you have to have the car in neutral, and feet off all the pedals, and hit a button on your remote before removing the key, in order to have the remote starter armed.

It works out great, because I would be doing that anyways, for the turbo timer. And before I had the remote starter, I couldn't arm the alarm until the turbo timer was finished cooling the car...now I can. the turbo timer doesn't start until I arm the alarm.

 

I have the Clifford .... I don't have to hit the button to do the "safety" check and I also interface an aftermarket turbotimer with NO PROBLEMS with my AFTERMARKET alarm.
