Heres a pointer.... don't force it too much... you might break the stud (like I did) trust me... you do NOT want to do that!

I got 3 of them out fine and the 4th broke and I endedup doing a TON of things... I would suggest letting it sit for a while w/ some super lube on it. (Spray it every once in a while) but when I say let it sit... I'm talking like a day or so. Also you could HEAT up the flange (w/ a torch) that is another thing I tryed. Then you could try tightening it and then loosening it (kinda like a wiggle out fashion).

When I finally got mine out it had re-threaded the stud. But the new bolts went in fine. It seems like theres allways 1 stud that gets the majority of the tension makeing it hard to get out.

Good luck

When I went catless, I couldn't undo these bolts either.

I had to drop the whole precat and maincat assembly together from the car.

It was like dis-embowelling the RX7.

That was 4 years ago.
They are in the corner of the garage still mated together.

I agree with above, let them soak for at least a couple of hours with some liquid wrench.

I guess Im just gonna get em with an impact chisel tomorrow and get em off. Then I guess I'll throw on some new bolts. how long does it usually take to put the downpipe on ? got an import show to go to.

I dunno, I put some liquid wrench on em, ( REMEMBER these are the bolts on teh precat that go to the CAT not the manifold ) and I let em sit for a few hours and no dice, so I guess im gonna let em sit over night.

Use a impact wrench. It'll probably break the bolts, but you can put new ones in. If all else fails use the acytlene torch.

My bonez race down pipe was a bitch. I think the holes are not drilled right and I could only get three to line up. Finally had to redrill one of the holes so they would line up. This was at the manifold. But the performance and sound of the car was greatly increased. I love the way you can hear the turbos spool up. But when I added the mid pipe and the cat back the car got so loud I can't hear the turbos spool like I used to. It is a sweet whine when you have only the down pipe, and the car gets a deeper note too. Everyone should have a race down pipe. I love mine. Prabably the best bang for your buck upgrade. Good luck with the bolts.
