Is this true about bypassing the high rev startup?

Absent minded

If your the absent minded type I wouldn't do the mod as it's allot worse on the car if you run the car under boost if it's not warmed up. The AWS keeps the butterflies closed until it's warmed up so if you can't remember to blip the throttle or put it in first to start it how will you remember not to boost till warmed up ? ? ?

I thought the double throttle solenoid is responsible for keeping the butterflies closed until the car is warmed up. Maybe I am off...

Anyways, AWS is pretty useless but it's not worth messing around with unless you are just plain lazy -- in which case then the FD isn't right for you.

WTF

Where do you get off calling me lazy!!!

I am only asking the validity of the claim.

Others in my family enjoy taking the FD for a spin and would rather not worry if they follow my instructions to put it into gear before starting to avoid the high rev startup. Also don't want my FD in my kitchen if one forgets to take it out of gear after startup.

Loaner FD

No one has ever proven the AWS has hurt an FD so if you wan to disable it and run the risk of damaging something else by boosting before the car is warmed up then go ahead, since your not the only one who drives it then you can tell them not to boost the car till it warms up or you can treat it like the cold start choke system it acts like and not worry about it. I don't generaly loan out my car so I don't have to worry about operating instruction. Most get rid of the AWS to get rid of the plates in the throttle body (one less restriction)

You're worried about them forgetting to blip the throttle or take the car out of gear before letting off the clutch and you loan the car out to them to drive? Ummm.....you must be REALLY close to your family, and be REALLY trusting. Seriously, if they are not capable of properly starting the car....
