Can someone help me identify this thing?

I found this little thing on the driver's side carpet (RHD) as my toe felt there's something under there (driving barefooted).

It's not the brake light switch rubber stopper. What could it be?

Maybe a ruber stopper for the seat rail just harden due to age...

Today I found where this thing belongs to but I'm not sure what is the function. It suppose to be fasten below the clutch push rod area. refer to pics below.

Can someone tell me what is purpose of this thing? Is it very important?

It looks like it just a travel-limit cushion so the clutch pedal does not bottom out with a "clank." You could probably attach anything to that plate that would serve the same function.

You're pictures verify that it is the clutch switch stopper.

Go to your local auto body shop, show them the part, and the hole, and they'll have a fastener that will fit.

Judging from all the rust, it looks like you might have a slight clutch master leak.

He is from Malaysia, so extreme humidity and rust on any unprotected steel is probably unavoidable.

Look at where the rust is. Its right around the seal where the rod goes into the clutch master. Also seems to be some staining on the carpet. I've seen several of these go bad.
