can i simply remove the front hub oil thermostat?

can i simply remove the front hub oil thermostat?
I am in the process of a rebuild and was wondering if I could just toss the front hub thermostat that sits in the e-shaft. Or do I have to cut it like in the RA video? What are the benefits and downfalls to this mod?
