Factory gear ratios will take you no further than about 190.

But that was gearing, I guess you could be right when drag is added in.

True as much as air resistance slow you down will that change the max rate at which you wheels will spin in 5th gear at 8k rpm. Its just a thought. And whatever was in the Racing Beat car, i would like the details on the drive train.

Off of the RacingBeat website...
Note the addition of the larger rear spoiler and "roof rails" on this car. A 950 HP 3-rotor, 3 turbo 13G engine powered this car to two land speed records. Although it was hoped this car would travel close to 300 MPH, poor weather and salt conditions kept the the top speed to a mere 242 MPH. Mazda announced that production of the RX-7 would cease after the 1995 model year, and the RX-7 Land Speed Project came to a close.

According to my calculations, the absolute top speed for a completely stock FD with manual transmission and stock tires is approximately ~165 mph in 5th gear at 6,595 rpm. The limit for a ~360 RWHP FD would be ~194 mph in 5th @ 7,300 rpm.
In both cases, it would take a considerable amount of time to gain the last few mph, which is true with any car as wind resistance eventually fights the available horsepower to a standstill.

3 turbos damn i'd hate when it comes time to rebuild

Unless you're on a dyno, you'd have to be stupid to let go of the wheel to take a picture of how fast you're going, besides that doesn't it strike anyone that the steering wheel is missing ? I think someone's playing with their dash, not to mention someone's about to lean out the car, with such wide open throttle and such little fuel :rolleys:

Oh, i see someone has replied before me.
Could be the passenger holding the camera.
Or a dyno shot.
edit: holding the camera, not the wheel.
