Cool Can Copper lines be used on air conditioner?

OK so I thought I could handle driving my car without the air conditioner but I just am not tought enough. I have now assembled several used parts to try and get it up and running again. Heres my question. Can copper lines be used in an automotive application?

Because I am now running a 500 r which postions the turbo way forward and very close to the coolent lines I am wondering if I could have the lines re-routed alone the firewall to the cooler side of the motor using coper line.

I am wantiing to know:

1. Has this been successfully done?
2. Assuming I heat wrap the copper lines can copper be used in an automotive application? (Not sure about line pressure limitations of copper)
3. If copper lines can be used will the fitting on the stock line fittings marry up to stand copper line fittings?
4. If copper can't be used can anyone direct me to a supplier of aluminium lines and fittings?

Thanks

Why would you use copper lines - so you can DIY?

Just have an a/c shop fab up the bent hard lines you need, made out of the correct material.

You should talk to RENESISFD about fabricating hard lines.

I think the important thing is using the right fittings. You can't just go down to Home Depot and get plumbing copper tube and fittings, if that's what the OP is thinking...

Yes you can use copper but make sure you cover it up really well since it doesn't handle water, moisture, or other things like that good at all.

^ Yea, just ask mobeoner about how is radiator piping looked

Op, Making those hard lines is defiantly not easy. You can use rubber hose in place of the hardlines. Hydraulic line shops can crimp the fittings on to the hose. That may be the easiest solution for you because you do not have to bend up hardline. (If you have never done that it can be difficult for a beginner) There is special rubber hose that can be purchased by the foot or the roll and is rated for refrigerant use ( one brand is Parker Futura barrier A/C hose http://www.parker.com/literature/Mob...les/futura.pdf ).As you can see it can be bent to a tight radius, just make sure it is not rubbing up against something. Or you may be able to get some sleeve to put over the lines to make sure they do not wear through.
