Burning sensation when doing a WOT?

Hey guys... when I tend to do a WOT through 3rd and 4th gear... I tend to get a burning sensation. The car is stock besides an aftermarket exhaust. All temps are fine... never had a drama engine wise... the smell doesn't bother me... its not strong at all... just making sure its not a big issue... thanks guys.

This is a rather vague description of your problem ? An un catted exhaust will have a strong smell at idle (doubt you'd smellanything at WOT) and if your saying it smells like it's hot after a WOT run it most likely is (as the turbo's tend to heat up the exhaust pretty well after a spirited run. Perhaps you can be a little more specific.

I guess it could just be the turbos heating up... its just a heat smell... I can only smell it from the driver side ( RHD ) so i'm right behind the turbos...

Are there any leaks in the engine? The last thing you want is oil or fuel(?!!) dripping onto the hot turbos or exhaust, which would be strongest during WOT.

When anything metal that hasn't been hot in a while heats up, it will emit an odor of a combination of dust/dirt/oil burning off, plus some metals have an odor all their own when heated for the first time in a couple of days. We have a couple of truck freight depots near us that have a very distinctive (hot, burning, metallic) smell in the mornings when the tractors are started for the day.

You could just be smelling the exhaust system getting hot.

However, just to be safe, check near the exhaust system for any missing heat shields and resulting charred-looking areas around the exhaust, or anything touching the exhaust that shouldn't be.

I looked under my FD today and noticed oil on my exhaust... seems like the oil has been there for a while... its not recent...

On a serious note, I'd bring the car to a trusted competent mechanic and let them check it out, it will be well worth the 50 or 100 bucks for the look-over.
