My only thought is that i drove it around with a split in the original line I just didn't get boost after 4500 but otherwise drove fine...

I would at least find something to replace the hose (without the pill if necessary) until you can get an appropriate replacement. If your makeshift replacement can't fit the pill properly, leave it out and live with a sluggish transition for now.

According to the bible site:
"If boost pressure is way above 10 psi, (i.e. spiking at >14 psi) then the tube between the Primary Turbo Compressor and the Turbo Pre-Control Actuator has popped off. Do NOT simply plug the popped off hose back on as it will pop off again. always use a new small hose clamp or a nylon zip-tie / ty-wrap for these hoses. "

Suggests to me that you need to connect the compressor and the actuator with a leak-free path or else the pc door won't open at all and cause problems. You might try going ghetto and using superglue plus a nice strong tape wrap over it if you have no other choice.

Or, just drive the car nice and easy until you get a replacement. It's not THAT hard to keep your foot out of it - I just got done going through a tank of 87 octane nice and easy because that's all I could get in post-hurricane Pensacola .

Ok the hose i'm referring to is the section right off the solenoid. its about 6" in length. I ran for who knows how long with a huge split in this hose. When trying to replace this hose the nipple snapped clean off the solenoid. So right now i have just a hose connected to the bottom open w/ nothing connected to the solenoid. Will this cause a vacuum leak? should i plug this line?

It depends on which hose you're talking about, top or bottom--one is just a vent, the other runs to the [precontrol] actuator. In any event, if the hose is simply plugged the worst it will do is just limit the the boost to approx 7lbs. I know from experience that if the precontrol is disabled, the ECU will just use the main wastegate to limit the primary boost.

The nipples on these solenoids break frequently; however, they can be repaired. I fixed mine a couple of years ago. You can search on "nipple repair" or here's a link to one thread I know of:

good luck!

OK, I was assuming you had the leak down at the hose holding the pill.

You could plug it just to be safe. This will simulate operation with the precontrol disabled (solenoid off/closed) and limit prespool to 6 or 7 psi. But then again, 1/8" line is available at any auto parts store, and it sounds like a 20" fix. So really I'd fix it immediately.

Of course, Dale's right - just stay out of heavy throttle and you'll be plenty safe, especially if you take it easy going from 4000 to 5000 rpm. That's really the simple answer.
