Brittled AST

I know...I know...should have done this long time ago...laid it on me.

Texas summer is here and it is pretty warm outside so decided to replace the stock AST with a Pettit unit. The stock unit was so brittled and harden the mid and bottom nipples snap right off. It have seen better day.

Now I can drive in the heat w/o worrying an unwanted coolant dump.

Thanks.

The exact same thing happened to me. I barely touch the hose attached to the mid nipple and it snapped right off. Luckily it didn't break while I was driving. Aluminum AST is a MUST!

AST elimination altogether is another option.

NO ONE should leave the stock ast in the car. They ALL crack in time. Honestly an ast is pretty much pointless and is just another thing to clutter up the engine bay, but if you must then get a metal replacement. I always laugh when I see a decently modded car that still has the stock ast and radiator.

the radiator isn't THAT cheesy... the AST is a joke though. when i first got the FD and saw that and the air expansion chamber, i just shook my head and though silently "that's gotta go".
