Brittle vs. Non-Brittle Wheels?
just wondering how to tell the difference between the brittle and non-brittle wheels... something about looking at the inside of the wheel where the spoke meet the edge of the wheel. anyone have any pics or did i just pull that out of my ****?

Are you talking about the FD stock rims?
If you feel the inside edge where the spoke meets the rim, you'll see that its either sharp or rounded.
I believe the 93's had the sharp cornered ones, and the 94's and up had rounded edges.
The ones with sharp corners have more of a stress concentration, so they tend to crack there.

I posted pics of both types in the Suspension/Tires/Wheels/Brakes section:

The later 93s and 94-95 with the "smooth" backs crack. I've seen pics of them and I have a cracked one in my posession.
BTW, do a search, this was covered last week.

turbojeff, i didn't even think to search in wheel/tire/susp section :brainfart:
even more a reason to pick up some nice aftermarket wheels, and use the stockers for track/strip duty...

Anyway if you search on the link that Max posted you'll notice a few posts from Wade. Wade has a 94, he and I have been talking about the cracking wheels for a year or so trying to figure out which ones crack, which wheels are on the newer cars and which are on the older ones.
I've had 12 FDs, so far my "research" has shown that the non-cracking type are the earlier wheels. The cracking type started being produced sometime in the middle of 92.
