Break fluid cap

My break fluid cap keep cracking, I think its due to the heat unddr the hood. Anyone of you has the same problem? How can I resolve this problem?

1- Don't overtighten.
2- Get a downpipe if you don't have one (to keep underhood temps down, in case you didn't know)
I've never had it happen, but my guess would be #1 above.

Brake.

It seems like you must be overtightening it if it keeps breaking. The car is LHD like the US market cars, right? Heat seems like an unlikely problem if it is not on the same side of the engine as the exhaust. Might it be something attached to the underside of the hood hitting it? Mine has been on my car for a hard 115K miles and it is still in fine shape.

mine is RHD and so its ont he same side as the exhaust. I have a downpipe and never over tighten the cap....I am so puzzle. But my guess is the heat.

why dont you use thermotec wrap? I wrapped mines with about 8 layers and can grab my downpipe with my bare hand after a hard run

I think I saw an aluminum replacement cap being sold somewhere but I forget where. Sorry - I know this is a lame post.
