Brake & Gear Issues

I just bought an automatic '94 RX7 last year, store it in the garage for the winter. Now the car is dead. Not sure why. The battery still seems to be working, but my main problem is that the brake is stuck, won't depress anymore and I cannot switch the gear to Drive, Neutral, etc. so I could push it out and maybe tow it to a shop to fix it or find out what's wrong with it. I don't know much about cars, so if any can give me a clue to this I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Most likely the battery is dead, voltage or not. Just try jumping it for starters.
And you need to give some more info to get any real help.

What happens when you turn the key?
Do all interior light light up?
Do they go dim when you try and crank?
Any clicks when you try to crank?

The brake might could just be from pumping it with the engine off. It will get hard until you start the car. Dunno the exact mechanics behind it, but all my cars do that if I pump the brake with the engine off.

Try to jump it, then let us know.
Good luck.

Ibumar, thanks for the quick feedback. As for your feedback questions, I did tried to jump start the car a few times but no luck either. When you turn the key and try to start it, it just go click click click click...All the lights inside seem to light up as long as the car battery is being charge or jumped. But then as soon as you disconnect the charging cables everything just dies down quickly and then theres no more power. Any other suggestions? And also is it because I can't depress the brake that it will not let me change the gear to drive or neutral, etc. Anything would really help right now...I'm running out of ideas, thanks.

^^^ What he said
It sounds like the battery just will not hold any charge.

A few months back my GF was stranded at work and I had to come to jump her car. It took a good five mins of holding my revs up with the jumper cables connected before the car would finaly turn over.
Installed a new battery that night, and haven't had a problem since.

I would just get a brand new battery. Worst case, you got a fresh battery to work with while troubleshooting what might be going on, ruling at least that component out.

As far as changing gears, I believe you need to have the brake pressed down to be able to move the gear lever. I think there's some mechanical lockout. Dunno for sure, never owned an automatic

Hope you get her running soon.
Let us know

Thanks guys, I'll try putting in a new battery first, hopefully this weekend, and see what happens. I'll let you guys know the outcome. Thanks again for the inputs.

Hey guys, this weekend I put in a new battery but still no luck. So, I don't think its the battery. Do you think it might be the starter or possibly the alternator as well? If you have any other ideas I'd appreciate it, but I think I might try a new starter next. Thanks!

Sorry to hear it wasn't as simple as the battery.
I guess next would be to check the electrical stuff for the starter.
Make sure the wires are still connected, maybe some rodent got into them.
If everything looks good I'd start taking the multimeter to it and make sure that you get voltage by the starter.

Sorry, not too much help. Hopefully some of the more experienced guys will chime in.
