bpu rex vs. bpu supra
hey guys,
right of the bat i have much respect for both cars and i come in peace, so lets get to business. my good friend will be pickin up his 93 touring edition with: blitz catback, midpipe, downpipe, street port, 3mm apex seals, blitz dsbc, apexi power fc, non sequential mode, and around 10 lbs of boost. I have a 95 tt supra with rmm downpipe, apexi n-1 catback, hks intake, hks fcd, apexi s-afc, apex-i bov,and 361 rwhp and 363rwt @ 16lbs( pos evc3 wouldn't boost any higher), so now i've got a home depot mbc and love it.
who would win in a race from a stop and who from a roll.
i'm not trying to be a troll and if enough of ya'll dont want me posting here thats cool and i'll leave. I really just want to expand my knowledge on a beautiful work of art (rx7), so that i wont be ignorant about them any longer. What is a street port and how much power do u gain from it?

With the mods your friends got he's probably looking at about 320 to the wheels, with the weight advantage going to the RX-7 I'd say he takes you in both scenarios. But it would definitely be close, maybe even coming down to whose the better driver.
PS - Welcome to the forum, let us know who wins when you guys get to run!

With the mods listed the Rx-7 has the potential to win. Right now you are limited with your supra to about 400rwhp because of your MAS. Right now one of the only ways to eliminate that is a HKS VPC.
Because a rotary is totally diffrent than a normal combustion motor it is sometimes hard to say who would win.
What I do know from experience is that a 400 rwhp Rx-7 will run a low 11 in the 1/4 while it takes 600 rwhp on a Supra to do the same.
Your friend has a great foundation on his Rx-7. Hopefully he has enough fuel to run more boost than 10 psi. If he does and drive well he should win easily.

thanks for replying jr, i know its a topic that has been beat to death, but i really have no clue to what a bpu rex could do. i guess i'll be racing with the music off, so i can concentrate better. what is a street port and how rwhp does it add? when we race i'll probably be pushing 18-19lbs of boost. i'll make sure to post the result and i'll try to get my friend to post as well, first we got to get his lazy **** registered.

Porting is closer to enlarging the valves and putting a more agressive cam into a piston engine. A street port which is the mildest port should be good for a 15-20% increase in rwhp.

with the mods that guys has on the Rex, I don;t knwo why he is running 10 lbs. Make sure he knows that he can chaneg it in 2 secs witht he PFC, he coudl esily run 13 lbs, as long as he has fuel, which I assuem he won't need to touch. SOUdn sliek you guys are going to have a good race, I can't find anyone in my area to give me a run, except some 69 cuda hanging out at year one down the street, but WTF I am not a drag racer that bad.

With the Power FC there is no reason that he should be running 10psi unless he just wants to for some reason. Even if he has no fuel mods like injectors or pump he can still turn it up to 13psi and that will be good for a real high 11 or low 12 sec run....with a good launch.
If he gets a good IC and fuel upgrades he'll be good for low to mid 11's at around 16psi of boost
Sorry I couldnt compare it to yours but I'm not familiar with the Supra TT enought to know what you should be running. Have you been to the track? What did you run?
Go ahead and run him, but be sure to report back to us how it went.....win or loose, we wont care
Later,
STEPHEN
