Exclamation BOV Spraying Oil?

Hey guys after reading alot on this thread ive learned alot about the 13btt BUT not much on the turbo's my FD is the first turbo car ive owned so im not very familiar with them anyway as you can tell i have a problem which is as follows.

Right so the other day i got an ecu read out to try fix my boost problems i got a 5 for the knock sensor stripped all necessary items and found it wasnt plugged in so i plugged it in put it back together and seemed to work pretty good not perfect still missing alot of boost at times and taking along time to spool (no boost till bout 4000rpm) and about 5secs on WOT before any boost would come, after this i thought to myself at least its driveable so i took it for a spin then my heat light kept coming on not quite sure exactly what this means obviously somethings too hot but wat?

anyway after letting it cool i took it home and parked it up. 2days later decided to put some gas in it and take for a spin so i gassed up and got oil pressure too high not sure exactly whats causes this either

THEN i get it home let it sit for about 3hours then went to take my partner to the movies started it up smoke was billowing out of exhaust and then once it heated up it started to choke so i gave it some gas and tried to move and all i get is about 2backfires per second (detonation im guessing) then it kept dying wouldnt drive and wouldnt hold idle, so wat i did was turn it off and popped the hood now once i looked under there i was amazed at how much oil was all over the place like i mean the BOV had actually SPRAYED oil all over my headlight motors and strut supports then i look at my black plastic intake elbow and theres even oil seeping out of the gasket join to UIM now i know this isnt normal but am absolutely stumped as to why its like this i mean it drove home from the gas station all good then crapped when it had sat for 3hours could this have anything to do with me plugging my knock sensor back in?

as you can see i have alot of problems with this car and have no idea whats causing any of it so if you guys have any clues it would be good to know, thanks

Well, oil spraying from your BOV and smoke to the exhaust means that your turbo is going down. Seals must be broken. Especially if you got oil pressure rising and weak boost.

Time for a turbine rebuilt.

Knock sensor had nothing to do with any of the above.

That wasn't detonation you were hearing either under the circumstances you described.

Check out the FAQ thread here and go to the link for turbo troubleshooting:
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/

How much boost are you running and what are your mods? Have you had a compression test done by someone that knows RX7s?

Well I do not agree. Most of the mods are single indeed but in my opinion the car also become less pleasant to drive (maybe not in america with long and big straight lines of course). Twin allows to keep a very smooth acceleration and it proved that mods based on normal twins could even be faster than single turbo settings.

Check this: http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance...reamemiya_auto

This is all in japanese but basically they explain how good is the twin mod...

Another advange is that you can keep a setting close to the stock. No need for a remap, no need to remove air pump, replace the manifold, etc...

Makers, Feed, Fam Speed and others also offer high flow twin turbos brand new, refresed or rebuilt.

Anyway, you'll certainly have to change or repair your turbos so I suggest yo to think if you're willing to go higher than 350 hp. If so, single turbo will certainly be th choice but if not twins will definitely be better...

Check the pcv system first. Its worth a shot. A clogged pcv system will spray oil into the intake.

damn thats messed up im not sure how to use the quote thing so i'll just answer as i can remember anyway i dont have many mods just a set apexi pods, panspeed ecu, exhaust, blitz bov and thats it mechanically and my engine has just been rebuilt about 2000km ago with 3mm seals and all the rest so that shouldnt need to be done and when the engine got rebuilt i switched out my old series 7 turbo's to my series 8 twins which im currently running
now my engine builder checked these turbo's out when he put them in and said they were all good so obviously he dont know **** or they were on the verge of packing up.
To be honest im not looking at going single i like the twins for some reason would rather keep them.

so pretty much all i gotta do is rebuild the turbo's and should be all good?

oh and another thing anyone got a link to anything related to air pump deletion my ones making weird noises and i been through 3 already and all been screwed i just want to know what i need and whats entailed cheers.

Basically, yes. But you'll have to check your turbine's condition.

If you want to remove the air pump, you'll need small block off plates. There are some for sale here and there but honestly if you're a little handy it's no big deal making them by yourself. However, if you keep your catalyzer, it might be a good idea to keep the air pump as well. Others who knows better than me will confirm this or not.

Good luck for your turbo repairs.

Just thought id bump the thread and give an update on my situation.
I got the twins off and there were copius amounts of oil in the front "sail" im currently between jobs so getting money together for twins has been a bit hard.

So anyway i took them into a turbo shop and they tried telling me my turbo's were fine which i highly doubt they are only a small shop and the only turbo specialist shop within a 5hour drive so advice was limited but im still going to try get some more twins and hope this fixes at least that problem, cause i know my engine is full of problems right now.

Thanks for the help so far guys will try keep updated and if all else fails will throw a link to a video in youtube of what the hell my cars up to.

Kotetsu please not that the video you have linked the car uses 99 spec turbos and more importantly 99spec vaccum works meaning a much more simplified system than ours. Edit: LOL, I was thinking of the other Amemiya car, you posted a link to the Amemiya car that runs a single turbo thus defying what you were saying in the first place.

Junk the twins.
