Bouncing Tach and engine stalling
My FD recently began having some odd stalling issues. One morning when I decided to drive it to work, about 20 minutes in I noticed the tachometer started bouncing accompanied by a hesitation in the engine. It started doing this in 3rd and 4th at first and only when throttle was applied.
By the end of the run the tach started bouncing at cruising speed. I parked the car and then attempted to drive home. The tach began bouncing a bit while warming up the engine and the car stall out completely after about 4 miles. I called a tow and wait. Just for the hell of it, after the tow hadn't shown for an hour, i tried starting the car and it started up. I shut it down and wait not trusting it.
Later, I tried starting it at home after the tow. The car then started bouncing the tach again at at idle and stalled after a bit. It then would not start at all. after waiting about 20-30 minutes, the car then started fine! I knew my coils were not good as the engine ran a bit rough and Elliot at Turblown recommended replacing them. so I said to hell with it and put in the Sake Bomb Garage ignition kit and ripped out my stock setup. Yesterday I got the install completed as the waste spark (which I will change before driving the car to DF). The car started great and ran smoother than the day I bought it. I let the car run a bit and after about ten minutes, the same thing happened and it stalled.
So, here is a breakdown:
-The car starts and run well for about ten minutes
-Tach starts bouncing and engine hesitates
-car then stalls
-Car will not start but cranks fine after this
-after about 20-30 minutes, the car starts up again fine
-Coils are new
-Car has Adaptronic Select plug-in ECU with a quick street tune by Ellliot @ Turblown
My searching has lead me to look to several possibilities such as a bad ground. I will check if the ECU is seeing these rpm spikes and trying to compensate. That could cause the stall. Where does the FD get its RPM signal from? Possibly just a bad ground? I will explore possible causes tonight further. Thanks.

Not sure on that one, I only had about half the symptoms that you are experiencing. My car never fully stalled out, just would bounce around a lot whenever i was between 2600-3100 rpms. I would get hesitant and the engine light would come on and off. Occasionally it would bounce around slightly at idle too. I've stalled out at idle once or twice but it was rare, tps fixed all this though.
