Boston Pro Series Components
I'm going to be redoing my whole system and was planning on going with the Boston 5.25" Pro Series Components up front. I was wondering if they will fit? Does anyone have these or can recommend something good.

Bostons
I'v got Boston components in my doors. Came with the car. The previous owner did a nice job on installing the tweeters in the door panel, and the mids fit just fine in the stock location. GREAT imaging this way, sounds really good. Damn....I'd like some Pro Series.....

I've been thinking about my stereo lately also (the car SHOULD be running by this weekend (i hope)).
Do you think a single set of those components will cut it? I have a guy localy who wants the bose system and I was thinking of trading him my whole system for a swap of his rear carpet and his side panels w/ speaker mounts and grills. Then I was thinking a set of the kenwood exelon (sp?) components in the door (the ones made for the McLarin (sp?) and another set of speakers in the 1/4 panels. Then a single 10 in the rear in a light fiberglass box.
Who out there is running a single set of components in the door?

az_lynx,
I'm probably gonna try it with and without the rear speakers. Right now I have Boston FX 5"X7" in there now. Main thing for the time being in deciding on keeping them is the small amp. I need to take a look and see how much power the comps. will be getting if I am also running another set of speakers.

I'm running a set of 5.4 proseries in my car with a 10" polk db sub. The Bostons are great, but install was a complete b*tch. I ended up taking the bose housings and hacking up the front to get the proseries to fit, the magnet is almost against the back wall of the plastic enclosure. Then I took some of this plastic/rubber epoxy stuff they sell at tap plastics and molded the mounting rings (for the mids) into the enclosures. I let it dry and painted the epoxy black so you can't see it. Then I took out the factory grill panels, and cut away the plastic and took out the cheesy foam. This gave me a little bit more room for the speakers. I surface mounted the tweets next to the mids. You can't really see the speakers unless your right next to the door panels. It sounds really nice, but images low. I am extremely happy with this setup. But I happened to see my friend install a set of 6.4.5? or something similar. He custom made fiberglass and mdf housings for both 6.5" and 4" boston mids, and then mounted the tweets in the sail panels. The car sounded unbelievable. Oh well I'm just a little jealous now. But my recomendations is if you can do the custom install the speakers are excellent. Either that or find a good installer like my friend.

good choice on high end. i run the pro 6.5's off of a sony amp that is split with a rockford sub in a custom fiberglassed-into-the-spare-tire-well sub-box. the speakers are great. they handle any power that you put on them, and do reall well with a good deal of power to them. the mid bass that they generate is tremendous. i have pics if you want to see them. they do however, make for a tight fit.....trust me, and the others, my '91 sentra won the USAC pro 251-500 class at the nationals, and i used boston pro high end then. now, i would have nothing less in my FD......

This is my door, you can see where the tweeter is mounted, the mid fits in the stock location. The crossover unit is tucked away inside the door panel, it JUST fits in one of the little hollow areas.

Hey Dr. Wankel, since you have the base model go with the 6.5 inch speakers. The go right in since the base come with 6.5s. You might have to trim for depth but it's really easy.
I'm doing a friends touring now, and had to go with the base model stuff to fit the biggest mid range as easily as possible, which was the 6.5. Just doing the separates up front and one 10" in the rear...
Whoever is trading bose for base setup, remember to swap the front door enclosures as well. Mazda doesn't even produce the passenger door base model enclosure anymore and modifying the bose 4.5 to fit anything is a bitch.
