Bosch 044 Intank Filter??

I've been having starvation issues when the fuel level gets to under 1/2 a tank, so i decided to have a look into it and found the Pump had been badly fitted (had too much pipe cut out so the Pump was mounted too high and there was no Sock filter so there was just a piece of pipe that some one had modified so fit)

So, i fitted a Sock Filter and with a bit of messing about got it as close as i could to the bottom of the tank without touching.

The Problem i have now is the car was mapped with the old set up and i was under the impression it would make little difference to the running of the car But the first time i got it on Boost i noticed its not Pulling like it should and the 4ft flames it used to put out have gone...

So my question is does fitting a 044 Sock filter mean i need a remap?? or have i simply got the Filter too close to the bottom of the tank and its being capped off?

You should check your AFR's before you cause serious engine damage. If you don't have a wideband, I would recommend you get one before you go into boost again. This will tell you if you're running lean or if there is something else wrong.

Also, what other mods do you have done? What ECU? What engine/porting? What intake? What turbo? Who tuned it? etc

No, the sock should play little to no role in fuel pressure. Depending on boost, and base pressure, I see no reason why it would affect it.

As Copeland mentioned, you need to keep an eye on AFR's under boost. A compression test at this point may be a good idea. Fuel starvation is bad news.

I have a Wideband on order but i was under the Impression that the Sock would cause no change to the Fuel supply/map which is why i fitted it.

As for mods, it ran 380rwhp on a Dynojet in March, it has a 62-1 Turbo runs 1 bar, very mild street port, Blitz FMIC, WI, PFC, HKS twinpower, 1680 secondary's, Aeromotive Fuel reg set to 40psi (with vac off), 044 intank, Feed Collector and the usually other stuff.

Tbh i did think its daft fitting anything to the fuel system without a map tweak or at least knowing the AFR but i was assured the Pump was no where near maxed out so it wouldn't make any difference as long as the base pressure remained the same..... But as it feels like its Holding back either i've got the Fitting pushed against the bottom of the tank or it won't flow enough fuel through or its collapsing as the demand increases?? anyway you look at it i don't want to open it up again until its sorted but that means i can't check my Inj duty etc

My first thought is filter collapsing.... I use the filter from Pegasus that has a skeletal frame inside that prevents the sock from collapsing..

I would check that, easy enough to do....

Ditto, seems easy enough to check as well.
