Boost pressure's

Hi am fairly new to FD's

Havent had mine long and have just installed a digital boost gauge.

At first the boost would go up to 8.8psi then back to that after change over.

Now it varies
This morning it went to 8.8 then at 4500rpm dropped to 5.9psi

sometimes it will never reach 8.8 and stay at 5.9psi

any ideas??

all the car is standard but have ordered HKS filters for it.

Thanks.

P.S (did try and search but my computer would not let me)

do the vacuum lines... 100% difference before and after. its a bit of a job though so be warned....it took me a while to suck it up and just do it. i had the parts sitting around for a long time before i felt motivated to do it. mark EVERY vacuum line (i put pieces of tape on each line and labeled them) and take lots of pictures with a digital camera if possible. cheers

do a search for hose job if you want more info on this. it seems that you have a boost leak, you should hit 10 psi before 4500 rpms, then it should drop to 8 psi at 4500 rpms, then it shuold go back to 10 and hold 'till redline. hence the 10-8-10 pattern that you'll read about on the forum. if you are not familiar with the turbo/vac/pressure/ system of these cars, take it to a reputable mechanic (please, not a dealership) and have him/her look at it. it could be something as simple as a clogged cat, or as complicated as replacing all of your vacuum and pressure hoses. good luck .

i used silicon with heat treated zip-ties on the ends. you have to remove (if i remember correctly) the air-box, airpump, alternator, UIM and pipes, solenoid rack under the UIM... and a few other things to get to all the lines. there are at least 60 lines...or at least it seemed so, and they are all in really awkward places.
