boost pattern 8-4-8, where to look first?
My boost seems to be fairly consistently 8-4-8.
I put screw tight clamps on where the BOV's come off of the turbo, because they were loose. No help.
In past cases what has caused this pattern?

I know this is an annoying answer.
I have read over that page, very good resource. However before I start going down the list of every one of the 200 possible causes, I was wondering if their are any people posting on this forum that have some good experience working on FD's that might have a better idea of the cause, or place to start.

Did your car recently develop this boost pattern or has it always had it (at least for as long as you've owned it). If it's always had it, you may want to make sure that the pills in the lines to the wastegate and precontrol actuators. Otherwise, follow the troubleshooting steps at the above link. You can also check all the check valves (plastic, metal from purge control, and PCV) and make sure all the vacuum hoses that you can see are connected. That covers most of the basics, if you still can't fix, it's likely that a vacuum hose job is in order.

To check the wastegate and turbo pre control solenoids.
They are both located on the left side and in front of the UIM.
You might have to pull off the pressure tank to get to them.
The pressure tank is the tank that sits on top of the engine in front of
the UIM. The wastegate solenoid and the connector that goes to it has
a white dot on them and is the one on the right.
Hope this helps

The precontrol and wastegate solenoids are the big green ones right where the upper and lower intake manifolds meet:
Since your boost is consistently low, it sounds like more of a leak problem. Usually if something is not functioning correctly, you see something like 10-8-5 or 5-5-10. Things that commonly leak are that coupler that connects the y-pipe to the crossover tube and the check valves.

Thanks, for all the info.
I will check the coupler this monday on the y-pipe. I know what a check valve is , but on the rx-7, I do not know where they are, how to check for leaks and how to fix them if I find them ;P
<-- slowly learning, but trying...

I went through the whole hose job process which included replacement of all of the check valves. You can check it out here:

I have had it about 4 months now.
I know this question is becoming annoying, however, here I go anyways...
How could I tell if they have been removed, where would I look etc.

You can actually see if they are in there by squeezing the two hoses Mahjik has highlighted. When you squeeze them with you fingers they will feel pretty solid and not really soft like the other vac hoses. Just a suggestion so you dont have to remove them.
Good luck.

Just double checking however 1.0 kg/cm2 is the same thing as 10 psi correct? I have a RE-Amemiya boost gauge and that is what it measures by.
I have been hitting .08 kg/cm2 which I figured to be 8 psi. Is that correct?

So just under the .08 line is perfect then... Glad I asked.
