Boost Lag Issue

Having a boost issue. The boost is lagging quite a bit, sometimes over 5 seconds, boost guage reading 0psi. Then it finally hits 10psi really quick. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears are really bad, 4th is better, and 5th gear seems to have very little lag at all. Even about 2750-3000 RPMs in 5th gear there is almost zero lag at all. Sometimes pumping the throttle helps the lag time decrease.

Also, the lag problem is almost non existent when it's very cold out.
Thanks
Mark

sure you can feel them coming online? it could be something as simple as a faulty boost gauge

I would look into your solenoids, the fact that they work better cold could be cuased by the solenoids heating up and thier resistance going out of spec.

oh, it's not just the guage. Boost makes a huge difference in these cars. It pulls nasty when it does hit
But sometimes it doesn't kick in until 4000 rpms, but once it does kick in, if I release the throttle and hit it again, hit boosts immediately again.
The point where it boosts is not the same point though, sometimes worse than other times.

Which solenoids? I thought all the solenoids were to control the secondary turbo only and wouldn't mess w/ the primary. Why does 5th gear seem so much better?
I'll try swapping a few around when I have time. Doesn't seem like they are easy to get to, under the IM.

Nevermind, I found the vacume hose/solenoid diagram. One is to control the wastegate. Are all the solenoids the same so I can swap it w/ another?
Thank you,
Mark

all the solenoids on the rack are the same.

I believe the ones on the intake manifold look different, but are still interchangable with the ones on the rack... I believe that's the case, it's been a long time since I've been tinkering with my solenoid rack though(it's all gone now )
