Boost gauge problem

when the car is shut off. my boost sits at 1.5psi.. so when im in WOT and i see like 10psi.. do i just subtract 1.5psi from it? i just recently installed a midpipe .. actually i did last night.. and im getting boost creep. i haven't installed a restrictor plate on it yet.. i might do it this weekend... till then i'll drive it slow.

gauge is mis-calibrated...I wouldn't trust any number it reads, get a new one.

careful with the midpipe

Or, you could calibrate it against a known accurate gauge, making sure that the readings are repeatable. Most gauges can be reset to get zero at an actual zero pressure by removing the pointer from its pin, and replacing it in the correct position.

If it were me, I'd try to re-zero it (what do you have to lose?), but you still need to calibrate it to make sure it reads close to actual pressure at pressures or vacuums away from zero. If you have problems, or still don't like the results, then get another guge.

If the gauge never sat at zero, send it back to where ever you bought it for a replacement.

Correct. I assumed that he'd had it for a while, and it was not on warrantee...

It wouldn't happen to be a Defi mechanical boost gauge, would it?

No problem. I wasn't trying to imply that recalibrating it was a bad thing.

wow... I was thinking the same thing. I JUST hung up with Rx7store to try to get my replacement Defi Gauge. I'm not going to know what to do when I finally have a gauge again.
