boost gauge installation

I am trying to install my boost gauge, and i only have problem with getting power to the lights. it is mounted on the steering column, so i spliced the wrap holding three wires from the turning signal switch. Red, black, and green. red is for the headlights, green is for the illum, black should be the ground. So my gauge has two wires, black and white. so i went, white to green, then black to black, but the gauge is on 100% of the time.............any ideas?

Splice it into the headlight switch so that when you turn on your park lights/headlights, it'll illuminate.

Or better yet tap the ashtray light wire and get the power from there..

i am trying to make it into parallel but it isn't working. i got one end on the green wire for i had initially, then the other end i put it through to the green wire on the fuse box, and it turns on 100% of the time.

If you want the gauge light to come on with the car lights, use the dimmer wire. If you just need power, use a fuse tap and go to the fuse box at the footwell.

Do 'em both at once and save yourself some time in the long run.
