practice on ur friend's FD...haha

oh i got my 1st FD when i was 17 also

just be careful with FD's they will turn and bite ur azz and the rx7 community will mourn the loss of another FD

if it makes you feel any better FD3SR1 I had my FD when i was 16 years old and now im 18 and have had the car for 2 years now...havent wrecked it or nothing has happened to it machanically yet...I would say im a pretty good driver with my FD but im still learning about the car every day and what it can do on the road...all i can say is the FD is not a car to **** around with, unless you know what your doing...

With a 5 speed, most of these cars lay down about 200-210 RWHP..The car is Much softer to drive as a auto. Estimates ( I've hear) between auto & 5speed loss are 18% Hp loss of a std 5 speed to 43% RWHP loss for a automatic trans....Yikes..Do your 5 speed conversion, learn to properly apply the HP you have to rear wheels coming out of a turn...smooth....listen...learn..grow...And possibly you to will be able to grow into a old 56 year old F rt like me... Thanks for the support and ya i do have a daily driver its a 00 civic si but the rx isnt paid off yet. my mechanical skill are ok on normal motors because i know them im still learning on the rotarys trying to get my hands on any info i can especaly mods and the order they need to take place! i know rotorys have tons of potental im just trying to figure them out i got the basics from howstuffworks.com and some more in detail stuff from the web and freinds with rx7's. I also have a shop manual the sive of a bibble that i refer to to try and learn all i can. does anyone know any other good places for info?

as an auto fd owner myself I have to say that when my car runs properly its pretty damn quick.Except off the line.Which is where im sure fd3sr1 wants to make a difference.As far as the midrange power goes its a beast as well as top speed.Based on your current mods
I would suggest either a catback or an intake but not both at the same time.Once you get one of these I would suggest a boost controller before adding the other.You should see better spool up as well as more torque.But ultimately you will see the best gain as far as response and torque down low from swapping to a 5 speed.

Being that you already have a exhaust modification already.You should see and feel a decent increase.
Intake and exhaust components work well toghether.Think of either modification as lifting a restriction off of your engine.With only a catback you decrease backpressure.Therefor your turbos dont work as hard to spool up.But by having a stock intake you still hinder the turbos ability to ingest more air.With the intake in place your catback or downpipe will also work more efficiently.Since now your car can take advantage of the increased spool up by intaking much more air.Hence more powa.In my book the only two intakes that look good for the fd are the apex and the blitz units.Ive got the blitz.

OK, so now you have an Intake...Downpipe...and cat-back, correct? NO MORE MODDING until you get an ECU upgrade of some sort or you will blow up

I put the intake on just 5min ago it revs quicker and sounds good when i let off it makes a noise it never made before almost like if you put a peice of papper in a fan, my turbo isnt going is it?
oh and when i was doing the intake i found a hose that had a hole eaten in it by one of the belts. i tryed to post a pic but it wont let me. any ways its on the lower intake right befor the turbo there are two of them. it was the left one that had the hole anyone know what im talking about if so whats that hose for? i raplaced it so i thinks its back to normal now

The only hose really susceptible to belt damage is the inlet hose for the primary turbo (about 3" diameter). This hose should be replaced if there is a hole in it.

The hole left in the intercooler ducting should be plugged/covered.

my intake came with a plastic piece and 4 self tapping screws to cover it. If you can find the plastic its the cleanest way to do it....if not, black ducttape will get the job done

more than likely the noise you are hearing is the air pump.when I put on my intake all of a sudden I could hear the air pump come on and off.
