i went back there to raise holy hell. the estimator guy i mainly talked to was doing the whole "you dont know what youre talking about" crap to me. he also said the guy was going with what mazda told him to do and that he took them out one by one. thats bullshit because i changed them two weeks before and i highly doubt i switched two color coded plugs around. i was like why not ask the owner what to do... so now its sitting there in their parking lot. ive got the keys and im going there to get it today after i swap the plugs back.

heres the funny thing... when i brought the car originally the estimator was going on about how he really likes the 3rd gens... which raised my suspicions... so i removed the hose that goes to my boost guage and another from the elbow so it wouldnt boost if at all. i come back to pay for it and all the hoses are moved around... they were trying to reinstall everything but i had one of the hoses in my house.

its not like they are that heavy... too much to push?

If you disabled boost, then it seems you don't have to worry much about engine damage. My experience is that if you start this car several times in a row without letting it warm up (like to move it in and out of the shop), the idle gets rougher and rougher and the exhaust gets more of a fuel smell. I suspect the plugs get fouled as a result which is why they pulled them in the first place.

I'd be more concerned with a body shop making engine repairs (even though they just changed the plugs, they even screwed THAT up). There probably isn't much you can do about it, short of taking your business elsewhere.

Interesting. Which hose or hoses did you remove to keep the turbos from making boost? Or are you saying that you just disabled the boost gauge to try to fool them into thinking that the car wasn't making boost?

Wiring the wastegate open would limit boost to about 7 psi, but there would still be boost. Removing the BOV would keep some of the pressure from reaching the engine, but you'd still have some boost. Removing part of the intake piping would keep all of the output of the turbos from reaching the engine, and the car would limp around in "naturally aspirated" mode, but you'd run the risk of damage to the turbos by over-revving them without the restriction of the intake path. However there is no vacuum hose or combination of hoses that you can remove which will keep the turbos from making some boost.

You could disable the second turbo in sequential mode by tampering with the hoses of the control system, but the primary turbo will still make full boost, and if you remove the wrong hose, you may end up with a wastegate that doesn't open at all... not good. Just a word of caution the next time you start messing with vacuum hoses thinking you're accomplishing something crafty...

okay since were on the subject. I just had a mechanic test some of my engine parts today including the coil packs, but I want to make sure he installed the spark plug wires correctly before I try and start it again. So do the spark plug wires go like this--
