If you have to stay oem, I recommend swapping out your original radiator with a new oem one as soon as possible. Those plastic endtanks can and will break, leading to overheating and potential engine failure. Honestly, you are probably fine with the stock in there as long as you don't boost much over stock levels.

I already have HKS hard pipes, did HKS make one or were the hard pipes for the OEM ic only? Once you change the IC does the stock flat piece up front that flows air to the IC and airbox come off?

The PFS SMIC is an EXACT replacement...except it's larger than the stock unit. And if you wanna keep it stealth, you can get it powdercoated a dark color like the rest of the stock plastic piping etc. Nothing moved, nothing relocated

The Greddy and ARC are stock replacements, but they're essentially the same size lol

Yea, but who wants to keep that old shabby thing?! Get an unmarked black aluminum M2 intake, and it'll STILL look stock

Very similar to what I want though I am still working on it. I am close too. I too want to keep it as stock as possible. I added a HKS Twin power ignition and hopw to be adding soon A hyper grounding system and voltage stabilizer. Mine should be around nearly 300bhp and I do not want to go further.

I am already really happy with what I have. By the way I have rims. and mine is black too.

Have load of fun with her and take care of her.

As much as you guys want me to change a few things, i may consider a few. But i do want to keep the stock air box. It is modded anyways through the bottom with a heat shield from the rad. With the K&N filter and this mod the box works very well and retains the stock appearencce.

Nice ride, I would go with some of the recommendations from previous members. I was TRYING to keep mine original, but the AST tank cracked and then the radiator cracked and why not replace them with something better. The stock radiator cost about the same as an after market.

Well after some searching i found that the only SMIC that retain the stock battery, air box, and duct are the ARC, Greddy and Blitz.

My car had a stock radiator in it (actually still does, lol). Guess you can't really see, but it's still in there.

Why did you add a twin power? At 300bhp, you're no where NEAR needing an ignition amp. The Twin Power is useful only when you're getting breakup up top, which only occurs when your FD is highly modified. Usually around the 350rwhp point.

IIRC Greddy, Blitz, and ARC.

i was refering mainly to the front bumber where a FMIC would noramlly look non stock. its a matter of personal chioce and i can understand the logic. mine is in my avatar and is 80k totally stock looking and rather pristine. I just want to free up potential and done RIGHT it can look much better than stock.

the only reason to change the stock rad is because it tends to crack with age. Other than that it cools just fine.

Just to be fair...I did have problems keeping my car in the high 80s/low 90s during the summer with the AC on initially. The solution we came up with was to separate the AC condenser laying it flat (parallel with the ground) and adding 2 fans to it (blowing up). This kept my coolant temps under control as well as provided good AC performance. Now, we are talking about blistering hot Florida in the dead of summer. In other states where heat is not such a problem, I imagine such "drastic" measures would not need to be taken.

i cant leave my ac on when in traffic in summer heat either. the temps will just keep climbing which means i turn off the ac when water temps reach 99 or so. Is this a common problem?

I don't know about common, but physics tell me that when two hot things are sandwiched together they will transfer heat to each other in an effort to normalize the temps. When the AC is on, the condenser gets quite hot and transfers that heat to the radiator both by conduction (touching) and convection (air has to pass through the condenser where it is superheated before it gets to the radiator).

It functions perfectly, until a plastic endtank splits and coolant dumps all over the highway, overheating the engine. I've seen it happen.

Yeah, mine is definitely not original though it is OEM, but I hear ya.

Shameless plug: I have a stock radiator in good condition if anyone is interested! Looking to get $100.
