Otherwise every 3rd Gen would have a check engine light on all the time.
Should we post a poll?
Plus this question gets asked everytime some newbie removes his UIM & pokes around (hose job comes to mind)

on my car I have that plug. When I unplug it, and remove the EGR, I have check engine light lit all the time.
that is what I am saying.
plus someone above also mention that its only for California. Now that I just remember there are two ECU version, one is for california, and one is non-california.
So perhaps that explain why the guy have extra plug.
He probably has non-cali ECU but he has cali wiring harness?

All the cars have the same wiring harness, except for overseas vehicles. That's why it is present on all the cars, and there's no harm in cutting the plug off it fits and your sure that the car doesn't have an egr valve, just make sure to tape it up.

i am just curious, i thought i answered it wrong.
my airpump connector broke too. I just replaced it with some connector from radio shack.
make sure you get the polarity right.
