Blue Connector
I found a light blue connector near the thermostat/waterpump housing that was not connected to anything. Does anyone know what this connects to?

It's not supposed to be connected, don't worry.

EGR I believe, mine is not connected either.

Its for EGR.
If its not connected, your stock ECU should lit up the engine check light. Reza |

Should we post a poll? Plus this question gets asked everytime some newbie removes his UIM & pokes around (hose job comes to mind) |
If your car has an eletronic switch on the EGR and it is disconnected or broken from the heat , then the computor throws a code

me retard? wait a minute! how can you say that to me.
on my car I have that plug. When I unplug it, and remove the EGR, I have check engine light lit all the time. that is what I am saying. plus someone above also mention that its only for California. Now that I just remember there are two ECU version, one is for california, and one is non-california. So perhaps that explain why the guy have extra plug. He probably has non-cali ECU but he has cali wiring harness? |

Originally posted by Mahjik Yes, you are correcet Reza. The '93 Cali cars do have the EGR so the plug is used. The '93 non-Cali cars do not have the EGR so that plug is unused. BTW, I think he was saying "retard" in a joking manner. :) But you do see this question asked alot! |
Originally posted by HDP So it's not needed for anything? The reason I'm asking, the connector on my airpump is broken and this connector is an exact match (except color) to the one on it. So would there be any harm in cutting this connector off and soldering it to the airpump? Thanks in advance. |
All the cars have the same wiring harness, except for overseas vehicles. That's why it is present on all the cars, and there's no harm in cutting the plug off it fits and your sure that the car doesn't have an egr valve, just make sure to tape it up.

yeap. i do see this question get asked a lot.
no problem sled driver. i am just curious, i thought i answered it wrong. my airpump connector broke too. I just replaced it with some connector from radio shack. make sure you get the polarity right. reza |
