Is it blown? What do you think...
Hey guys,
I drove my 7 up to have some body work done and left it there for two weeks. When I went to pick it up the car would not start unless I gave it gas. Now I figured it could have been something like the Map Senor being unplugged and so on so I quickly pulled the UIM to check the vaccum lines and connectors(single turbo). Everything lookd fine besides the fact their was either oil or a oil/gas mix along the runners where it met up with the UIM.
Either way I put the UIM back on after checking everything and figured if it wasn't that it might just be flooded. I pulled the back two plugs first and saw that they were a little black but not wet or anything crazy so I cleaned them off and proceeded to pull the front plugs. When I pulled those they were covered on gas and black as night. I figured oh theres my problem I am really flooded. Next I took the EGI fuse out and the plugs and turned the car over to clear out the gas and verify that I am getting spark.
When I had everything out and started turning over the car I noticed their was strong puffs of air coming out of the rear rotor which is a good sign but the front rotor had ZERO air coming out of it or at least not enough to notice with my hand. My question is...Is this engine pretty much shot? Could it be something else I am missing? To my knowledge the rear rotor is usally the one that runs lean first so how did this happen to my front rotor? The engine has around 30,000 miles on it and was a swap. If it is just the front seals is their a chance they already detached from the rotors and shot into my turbo? Let me know what you guys think.
P.S. I don't need everyone on the board telling me how the body shop screwed up my car and so on. I am more interested in how this could have happened and what it coudl be rather then whos fault it is at this point. Thanks for any info!

It does not good...you should feel similar pulse's to the rear. Do the pulses in the front sound different than the rear? If you are in MA, I can swing by a give a listen.

^ was thinking the same thing. I'd be asking some questions, for sure. I seriously hope you wrote down what your odometer was reading before you left it with them (I do this no matter what shop my car is at).

Always, with any vehicle, write down the odometer reading at the time of drop off, sign it and MAKE whoever is taking the car sign it as well. If they won't do it, leave and go somewhere else.

it definitly sounds like something blew, cause you should definitly be feeling similar puffs of air from both rotors. as everyone else has said, compression test the engine, even if its just with a normal compression tester because if your front rotor is blown, than youll still see the difference in the numbers.
and i know you didnt want to hear everyone talking about the shop but, being a mechanic and an autobody guy myself, i can tell you, id be looking at the shop for something going wrong like that. Especially since the car was in perfect running condition when you left it there. Engines dont just fail while sitting around having body work done.

I need to get the equipment needed to run a compression test so when I got that I will do it. As far as the body shop is concerned things have been taken care of and thats all I am going to say about that.
I guess the reason I am asking all this is because I have heard from people of seals sticking or getting a hole in them and so on. It's only been two weeks since this all went down so I am still sort of in denial.

It has been confirmed that Tyrant TT is the well-known scammer Chris Hill aka midwestbest/chitownr1/etc etc. He'll be banned shortly, he's been trying to sell high dollar parts on the forum recently so please be careful who you send money to.
