Question blown turbo

on my 93 tt i have blown the forward turbo 3 times
in the last 3 months. Before this i never had any turbo problems. i replaced it first with a brand new twin turbo
from mazda and have since replaced the blown turbo
with rebuilds. Both oil and coolant lines seem fine.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing
this??? thanks

That does not sound right at all. Did you visually inspect the turbo? It took me about 2 years at 15psi to blow my stock twins. Maybe it was a vacuum hose and the Mazda techs misdiagnosed it. Check the turbos to see if there is indeed some sort of shaft play of damage. 3 turbos in 3 months is crazy

Check the Charge control selenoid... it's suppose to open the flap in the y-pipe after 4500 - 5000 rpm, allows
the second turbo to come on line.

If this vaccum line is mis-routed you will break the turbine shaft cause it compresses already compressed air with no where to go, you'll probally send tons of oil
into the exhaust. And lotts of white smoke.

Is it a selenoid just behind the pre-control and Wastegate selenoids remove these with a 10 mm, then move aside. It is on the left side near the front of the selenoid rack. You'll need a flashlight.

If this is what happening... then your Dealer or Mechanic is at fault...

15psi will eat your stock turbos. usually not as quickly as you experienced but the heat is tremendous at that boost level.

what IC are you running? what is your mod list?

what kind of intake do you have?

sometimes the intakes plumbing will collapse and contribute to problems like this....if your intake is stock plumbing or pettit then it can pinch up during high boost...like i said..this can lead to all sorts of leaky problemos.

WHO is rebuilding your turbos???? who did the work?

btw...usually a propellor that is gone stems from two things...one it was out of balance and rubbed the housing....that in conjunciton with the red hot heat of high boost can make the wheels brittle...ive seen it with my own eyes on one of my stock sets. the wheels now brittle will slowly chip away.

the other aspect is that something went thru them...did you blow a motor at any point?

the turbo builders will almost always claim that something went thru the motor and out the turbos...ive seen that happen to a guy when the mechanic dropped a hose clamp into his motor and didnt get it out....bye bye motor and bye bye turbos there....if they claim that something went thru the motor then they can get out of the warrantee.

when they rebuilt them...did they replace the cartriges and the wheels??? its possible that they didnt even open them up...which happend to me before...they got em cleaned up but didnt change **** and just took my money. they came back out of balance and when i opened em up the exhaust wheels were farked. they as i said...claimed that something went thru my motor...which did not happen in my case.

after that...i went m2.

I AM SURE IT WASNT A BAD TURBO BUT SOMETHING CAUSING THE TURBO TO BLOW.THERE IS NO Y GATE
BOTH TURBOS ARE ONLINE ALL THE TIME.THERE HAS GOT
TO BE SOMETHING THAT HAS CAUSED THIS NOW AND NOT FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS.THE CAR IS ONLY USED
AS A ROAD RACE CAR SO THERE IS ONLY A STRAIGHT PIPE FOR EXHAUST.
I APPRECIATE ANY THOUGHTS AND WILL LOOK INTO ANY
POSSIBLE SOLUTION.
THANKS
