Blown Rear diff. Any Suggestions?
Blew my Diff the other day. I have a Ls1 swapped 93 Rx-7. And i was wondering who has some suggestions on a stronger LSD. The Casing, ring and pinion gear is fine but the torsen LSD is ate to hell. I seen there is a KAAZ LSD on hinson supercars. but im looking for a more NOT $1000 option. Thanks for any suggestions.

Any rear end solution for an FD is going to cost $$. Be it aftermarket differentials for the FD case, or by swapping in a Ford 8.8.
The Kaaz is a cheaper option than the Ford. I believe the cost of doing my Ford rear end was about $2500 - The diff and inner stub axles, driveshaft shop conversion axles, and Samberg subframe conversion brace. One thing to keep in mind though, and what ultimately lead me to spend the extra money on the Ford, is the sheer amount of final drive options, replacement differentials, and domestic aftermarket support.
As an el-cheapo option, correct me if I'm wrong people, but I do believe some people use differentials from FC TII's.

hmm is it me .. or are you guys overlooking a VERY BIG issue ...
Ford rear end is a Live axle .. FD comes with a LSD ... two different spectrums , what do you want the car for ? and then go from there .

This particular Cobra rear is an IRS. You can also get the same differential case out of Lincoln MkVIII's, which are iron instead of the Cobra's aluminum. The swap is pretty much bolt on except for a few small details, such as if you have a 93 or 94 subframe.
Check out the v8 RX7 forums for more information, there's quite a list of stuff on there you can read. Or feel free to ask me any questions.

hate to say this but OBX makes a helical designed diff. they are actually designed after the Quaife diffs. and you can usually pick them up for about $350-$450. i have seen them hold up well in some semi pro drift cars. maybe give it a shot. good luck

I was looking at those but im not sure if they are much better than a stock Diff. I dont want to buy that and then a year or less down the road have to buy another one.
Can you comment on how exactly you blew it up? What diff support do you have now? Samberg? Wheel hop? How much whp/torque did the car make? I have the samberg mount and I get pretty much no wheel hop. I don't do clutch dump launches though... more like a little slip and then full throttle.
