Blow Off Vave help please....
I've searched the old blow off valve help questions and still havent found what im looking for. I put on a used HKS blow off valve on my 1993 rx7 this past weekend, one that i actually bought off this site. My car only has aftermarket apexi filters and exhaust. It's only really been started once or twice a week because i'm away at school and my family at home are the only ones that can really start it. I put it on with some help of a friend who put a blow off valve on his rx7 the same way and had no problems. After installing the bov, it wouldnt start because it got extremely flooded. I had to go to school so we got it towed to a local shop. At the shop the guy got it running finally, but when he test drove it and any boost hit (even as low as 2pounds) it shut off and died. I'm trying to figure out what could possibly be the problem. I dont currenty have pictures because i'm at school but i didnt know if there was something simple that i may be forgetting. I figured someone here may have had a similar problem so thanks for any help...
A BOV is not really capable of causing problems like you've mentioned. It's possible that during the install, you knocked loose a vacuum line or something. Maybe the map sensor came unplugged. But again, a BOV will not cause those issues.
Exactly what I was thinking. Something may have been knowcked off or removed that needs replaced. Or maybe the vacuum hose to the bov is connected to the map sensor?? Just a possibility....

I would also have to agree that a bov will not couse such problems. If you did install the Bov make sure you disconected the one on the front of the car. The one in the rear should remain stock, and is used for boost ajustment.
You ay be right that something else came off and we didnt put it back on right. It's just in the same spot that the other stock one was...we just took the other one off and hooked up the new one
The engine could care less what BOV you have. Yo uneed to look else where for your problems, I say start with a fresh set of plugs. Since your car is only started once or twice a week I doubt your moving much gas through the system (how old is the gas) the next wuestion would be ....is the car brought to operating temperature ? ? ? it is one tof the worst things you can do to these engines (start them up run for a short period of tiime) and then shut it down. You'd be getter offf preping it for storage and wait till you can actually drive the car. Try reseting the ECU along with the plug change and see how it runs. If that doesn't help check for codes.
Well, if the diaphragm in the BOV was busted, that would cause one hell of a vacuum leak.
Easy fix, put the stock BOV back in place and see if the problem goes away. If it does, then the BOV is fukked up. If not, you've got other problems.
Swapping parts is a quick easy way to diagnose problems. Do it all the time at work.
